I'm all for options for people to (the way I look at it) get home. But - it simply makes little sense re distance v time v airplane.

Btw so does France. But - France isn't the same size as North America etc. I frequently (work) go from Amsterdam to Paris and I generally do the Eurostar (or whatever the brand name is these days) bcuz it's about 3 hrs.

Ok. Sure. And at what cost. Also you forgot to yell at Canada Australia Brazil etc. My point is it's pointless to build HSR for long distances when there is a strong air network. Very few people would want to spend 24 hrs going from NYC to LA when flight is about 5-6 hrs.

Well thing is... except for the largest cities in the US. We also have massive distances between cities across every kind of terrain imaginable. High speed rail would work well in the us North East in the area between San Francisco and LA and San Diego etc But once you're over about 1000km...plane.

I think France is better on this. (Although I find her attitude a bit self hating...). I will say that on this and this alone...nations formed from.immigration do a lot better...yes the US (despite the lunatics wanting to change this) Canada ... Brazil etc.

We loved this so much we just had to put English subtitles on it, apologies to the French speakers for our translation. But this is what it would look like here in the UK if Farage or Lowe or another of their ilk got their own way.

As a frequent visitor I would like to think that France won't slide. Look the fascist parties prove how utterly (among) other things - incompetent they are by next year... hopefully... their "attractiveness" will be gone. After all too... Hungary threw out orban!!!

It's a shame the Irish const doesn't have a prohibition on ex post facto laws...it'll be interesting how Sinn Fein will try to tie itself into a pretzel being against this & at the same time for it. And yes Dublin bus is...let's just say they need to hire people who know how to run public transport
