This is what shit looks like when you pile it on top of itself.

Good points. However, the collapse was more than just hours, although military leadership generally denied this. In 2020, idiotic American higher-ups wrote a paper arguing that the movement of the Taliban from villages to cities was a sign, not of their victory, but of their losing in villages.

The arcticle was actually good, although not just the title, but the use of the term neoliberalism is not helpful. The author points out that it's used in many ways. He considers just three, but many more than that exist. "Republicans are no longer good faith actors' would be a better title.

The death of the novel, the end of democracy, the end of prosperity, the end of scarcity, the end of Communism, the rise and fall of fascism, the end of free love, the end of sexual morality. These have all been really calm in the past half century, and they are generally hollow approaches.

Taking big things and then framing them as either, "this is the end of..." or "this is the beginning of paradise..." is almost a sure sign of sloppy and lazy thinking. Neoliberalism, like "the rise of the bourgeoisie", is such an overused and bloated concept that it's another red letter sign.

You entitled twat! The restaurant analogy doesn't apply at all for articles behind paywalls. I've followed you for a couple of years, but no more. You've revealed yourself to be an arrogant bitch with shitty critical thinking (eg that restaurant analogy). I'll block you before you can block me. Done

Mike Johnson likes to tell the world all the time. He's a Christian. He put that dirty little hand on the Bible and swore an oath knowing full well he was going to lie seven ways to Sunday in order to support the satanist overlord, also called the rapist in Chief in the White House.

There's no such thing as "the elite political class". It's not monolithic. There are important differences and conteadictions within it. Unimaginative commentators on both the left and the right like to resort to stuff like this as well as "the mainstream media".
000
timefornow.bsky.social @timefornow.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
Yes, he's a criminal and a pig, but no, 'the political class" hasn't declared anything. Partly because there's no such thing as "the political class". This is a classic example of lazy reification.

Just to be honest, so far I've never used this, "Do you want me to summarize?' thing that pops up with PDFs. And I have no plans to do that. But for years, I have skimmed and scanned as needed, especially with mediocre writing. Writing. Which is sadly is a lot of the total content.
000
timefornow.bsky.social @timefornow.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Except that so much academic writing is not good writing and it's not true that every sentence has a purpose. So much of academic writing, regardless of the field or the politics, is a repetition of fashionable boilerplate. Long before AI, I learned to skip over much of it.

Because this is a US agency, I assume that's 14° F? It's nice to always mention that, especially if using the imperial system which is used almost nowhere in the world.

Yes, I think so. And of course, after decades of doing this, he doesn't really pay attention to lying or being confused or making things up. As a pathological narcissist, all he thinks about is whether it'll benefit him. That's not entirely true. He also actually enjoys inflicting cruelty on others.

So you just admitted you're wrong. You made a point, and then you back down the last bitch, and now you say it doesn't make any difference. And it's not because I'm a fan. It's because I actually know how to do searches and look for information. Grow up!

But we often remember clearly AND incorrectly. The Rapist-in-Chief is, of course, lying + dementia-ing. "Flashbulb memories feel accurate and are recalled with confidence, but research finds they are just as prone to forgetting and change as ordinary memories."

That was an absolute disgusting meme. Made even worse because the Rapist-in-Chief frequently talks about how much he admires. Kim Jong-Un and also how he loves to cruelty and power of Putin and Xi. Made more pathetic by the Rapist's of obesity and lack of physical skill.

You are correct. You know more than this guy who says he's the friendly neighborhood political scientist. There's absolutely nothing inherent about being a constitutional republic that means it's going to be democratic. It can be, but it doesn't have to be.
000
timefornow.bsky.social @timefornow.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
No. A constitutional republic does not have to be a democracy. It's absolutely true that a country can be both a democracy and a republic. But you can have a constitutional republic which is still non-democratic. This guy needs to learn more about what he supposedly knows about before pontificating.

My God are you stupid. So you're just assuming that out of thin air you're going to get 100% compliance? Nobody's going to do any work, no shopping, no bill paying. And these people are going to be eating what while they're doing this? Idiots like you are not a help to a progressive cause.

Why did you get your sorry ass back to Twitter? It's people like you who are trying to work for the initification of Blue Sky. Extremist idiots on the left or the right. People who make loud claims but have a little to back it up. I block pieces of shit like you.

Dipshit, I totally know this. Comparative history is hard for you. You still haven't been forthcoming with examples of general strikes the past Century which have been successful in toppling a government or enacting major changes nationally. The best you could do as "many countries".
010
timefornow.bsky.social @timefornow.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
successful. And make sure you tell me ones where the success was due to the general strike, not for a very partial so-called general strike that was with something else. Attempt in general strikes, which almost always our partial, can be successful when combined with other tactics. Fool.

The postal strike in 1970 was not a general strike. You don't know that? You're such an idiot. Why do you think they have that word postal in front of it rather than general? Because it wasn't a goddamn general strike! Tell me five countries in the past 500 years which a general strike has been

There's no social safety network of any kind in the US? That is idiocy. That's also a sign of extraordinary privilege. You are utterly unaware of the degree of social safety nets around the world. If you believe this you're not being helpful. This is the type of extremist lunacy that horseshoes.
010
timefornow.bsky.social @timefornow.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
It's not just the sort of thing that Americans don't do. Where was the last time there was a general strike in any country? And how widespread was it in fact? And what changes in government did the general strike actually make?

timefornow.bsky.social @timefornow.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

That's kind of stupid. Yes, lots of hate for the US before the Rapist-in-Chief. Yes, lots of love, too. Two or more seemingly contradictory things can be true at the same time in slightly different ways.

It's the thing that a very weak person and his followers would need to do to feel powerful. Most of the nation finds this absolutely ridiculous, but sadly there are tens of millions of people who will bray and cheer for anything the Rapist-in-Chief says.

to engage with your stuff. Part of me feels a little bit sorry for you, just for a second or two. I imagine how lonely you, a self-proclaimed historian, must be that you spend so much time every day posting garbage. But then I realize you're as unpleasant as your posts are. Anyway. Block.

This petulant post shows the problem. Yes, sadly, Canadians absolutely do need Americans, and Americans also need Canadians although not as much. Pretending that this isn't the case it's not the beginning of any type of reasonable politics. You should be called Less than Occasional Brain.

As with most of your posts, it's clear you don't understand the difference between trolling and politics. So the collapse of the US would affect Canada and which ways? This is a rhetorical question because I can tell that you're so stupid and lazy you ha are not capable of thinking about this.
