And every fucktard said he was an immigrant. Including your beloved First Lady elect.

Nothing says Christmas like a cop learning to kill again. Makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.

If #DieHard is considered a Xmas movie, why isn't Die Hard 2?

Is it just my fat fingers or is it extremely annoying when scrolling that Bluesky flicks between 'following' and 'discovery'? Could you please just let us choose with the tabs at the top.

Would love to know what an equivalent list on the bad place would look like?

No, but McClane would have :-)

See the kids and why would they have any party? Don't know about you but I've been to loads of parties that aren't Xmas related.

It's Takagi's retirement party. How is the film any different? It isn't. No one acts differently, no one has a change of heart, the baddie doesn't turn good. It's a party, and nothing more.

Polar Express takes place on Xmas Eve. So nicely proven you have no idea what you are talking about ergo, I win!

Elf isn't in the middle of summer, they have snowball fights, and he doesn't have mental health issues, Santa is real! Christ, no wonder you think Die Hard is a Xmas movie.

So a feel good seasonal film with Santa isn't a Xmas film, but a violent action movie with the protagonist kneecapping baddies, etc with just passing references to Xmas is? Umm, ok.

But you said yourself, he wasn't invited, so he can gatecrash any party. What question?

He was invited to see his kids as the last time he saw them was Xmas (apparently in the States estranged dads only see their kids at Xmas), so gatecrashed the party. Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, Polar Express are good examples. Any heartwarming films that revolve around Xmas and Santa I guess 🤷

*sigh* he could have been invited to a birthday party. Security is lax on a Saturday night, only needs a bloke on the door.

What, never?? Bloody miserable yanks! Ah well, let's go back to it being a birthday/retirement/promotion party. That works well to show how irrelevant Xmas is to the story.

He would be there because he was visiting the kids. He figured only visiting them once a year made him a douche.

Tim Dowler @timdowler.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
The fact that he went to visit his kids is exactly what glues the film together, he left New York because he wanted to see them, security was lax because it was Saturday night , etc.

Tim Dowler @timdowler.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
So he crashes a birthday party 🤷

Tim Dowler @timdowler.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
Would have worked equally well on Thanksgiving, New Years Day, Easter etc. Again, Xmas is irrelevant to the story.

Tim Dowler @timdowler.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
So you can only visit your kids at Xmas? Perhaps it was a party to celebrate Hollie's promotion and she invited him as she was clearly keen on a reconciliation. Make it whatever party you want, doesn't change the fact that the time of year is superfluous to the story.

But he was invited to a party, so that makes no sense. And it was certainly dusk, and would be closed up on a Saturday anyway.

"Hey John, Takagi is having his 70th birthday party this Saturday, fancy coming and seeing the kids?" "Yeah, love to. Out of interest, much security on?" "No, it's Saturday night, we are just opening up the 30th floor for the night", "One more thing, is that prick Ellis going to be there?"

Tim Dowler @timdowler.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
He was invited and it was Saturday night.

Tim Dowler @timdowler.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
Would the film differ if it was Takagi's birthday party?

Tim Dowler @timdowler.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
100%, been saying this for years. Make it a retirement party and the film changes not one jot.
