Headlines like this reflect, and contribute to, a misunderstanding of public finance. Marblehead is not an affluent town! www.bostonglobe.com/2026/03/17/m...

Town officials will present a tax override measure to voters later this year to determine what budget cuts are necessary.

If my political opponent made an issue the main plank of his policy platform and subsequently didn’t even make it to Election Day, I would consider that to be an overwhelming mandate to put the pedal to the metal on that issue in my second term. Not so in Boston! www.bostonglobe.com/2026/03/15/m...

People should be scandalized by this: an unelected, unaccountable civic organization demanding control of a million dollars in “community benefits” funds. It highlights the backwards and frankly undemocratic nature of our development approval process.

Tangential (eh? eh?) to this conversation, but as a dyed in the wool humanities guy, I still find the philosophy of math to be gripping. I read David Foster Wallace’s Everything and More a while ago; who knows if he’s a good teacher of math, but I found the history of infinity fascinating.

I’ve been thinking about the first picture a lot lately. Our athletes are likely to get a lot of boos the next few weeks. But they deserve our support b/c they reflect the people of this nation, not the policies of this administration. And the second photo is a good reminder of that. 🇺🇸

Boston’s broken land use system blocks the homes we desperately need - CommonWealth Beacon

This piece underscores an important difference between “luxury” housing as a marketing term overused by brokers and weaponized by left-NIMBYs as a critique of any new housing development and real, actual luxury housing.
