In the UK we have ‘mandatory with flow’ & ‘mandatory contra-flow’ cycle lanes, both of which are delineated by a solid white line. It’s illegal even to drive in them, let alone park (with no minimum period like 10 minutes, either), though you may set down & pick up passengers.

TomTom are kidding themselves. I’ve reported a speed limit change for more than a year & it’s still wrong on their maps (Apple Maps shows the correct limit). I’m referring to Beaufort Way, Gorleston, which changed to 40 more than a year ago. It’s not the only example.

RAF rules prohibited a finding of gross negligence posthumously, unless there was no doubt whatsoever. If the cause could not be found then they couldn’t be guilty. Wasn’t it the same chiefs who overruled the serious concerns of the test pilots who found the pilots guilty? Sounds very convenient.
Screenshot of a quote by former Defence Minister Liam Fox suggesting that the evidence given to them by the RAF regarding the crash of RAF Chinook ZD576 on the Mull of Kintyre in 1994 was misleading.

Someone has asked to see a picture of my aeroplane
A picture of me sitting in the front of the aeroplane I built from a kit, between 1992 & 1994. It’s a two seater, tandem, high wing, tricycle undercarriage (3rd wheel at the front), pusher (prop behind the engine). The engine is running. It flies around 80mph, with a service ceiling of 29,000ft.

Although he’s parking like a twat, parking on the pavement isn’t actually illegal (except in London, though it’s being considered for everywhere), though he could be said to be blocking the highway. The one cycle way it’s illegal to park (or drive) in is a mandatory with flow cycle lane.
Road traffic signs showing the start and main body of a mandatory with flow cycle lane. Each has a blue background and white border, and features a white pedal cycle facing to the left, with a vertical solid white line to its right. The sign for the start also has a dotted diagonal white line from the bottom left to the beginning of the vertical solid line.

In the UK we already have a huge backlog of driving tests. It wouldn’t currently be possible to test existing drivers. The age range likely to have the most accidents is 86+, with the next worst 17-24. This from the BBC

Their eyesight is more likely to be problematic. I’m 68 and have my eyesight checked regularly. I want to ensure that my driving doesn’t result in someone’s death. It is also true that drivers a lot older than 70 have fewer accidents per billion miles than youngsters. This graph from the BBC
Graph showing accidents per billion miles for drivers of different ages, showing that only those over 86 have more accidents per billion miles than those 17 to 24. Drivers from 41 to 75 have fewer accidents than 17 to 40, with 51 to 55 having the fewest accidents

All British judges aren’t allowed to accept all but the smallest gifts, not just the ones sitting on the Supreme Court. They’re not politically appointed, either.

Agreed the Blair/Brown government made use of PFI, which was a very bad idea, but let’s also remember that in some cases the deals had already been agreed & they couldn’t get out of them

Yes, we have a knife problem, but it’s even worse in the US. Following the banning of most guns in the UK we had an attack at a nursery. The chap had a machete and inflicted bad wounds to the teacher and several children, but nobody died.
