Is it the incredibly insincere smile or the incomprehensible buzzword lying?

The reality is that badly designed floating bus stops are a problem, but in general they save the lives of countless cyclists with no other ill effects. We’ve had them in England since the 1930s.

Decency used to be a thing in the USA. But not with these degenerate scum in charge.

I love the stern warning at the end - “do not attempt to damage the White House”.

They’ve tweaked it already - “I do not recap elections, electoral counts, or other political events.”

“They point to its extraordinary growth rate” - yes, Anthropic’s annual losses have grown from $2.9bn in 2024 to $8bn in 2025! A real American success story.

I’m willing to bet Oz has life insurance. Yet he’s still alive so he should be kicked off that plan for fraud.

He’s a Republican so naturally he’s lying. The USGA estimates the average annual golf course usage at 78 million gallons. An average 100MW AI data centre uses 500 million gallons. Stargate Abilene (if it ever gets finished) is targetting 1.2GW.

But no pushback from Bash on the lie that there were 30,000 illegal voters in New Jersey. Only 400 voted, and they were mistakenly issued with ballots by a buggy driving license system.

You do realise you are posting this on a platform that is packed to the rafters with disgruntled ex-Twitter users who deleted their accounts so can’t “pop over” even if they could he bothered to do so?

Imagine not knowing who pissvortex is on a platform you never use.

Tim Bick @timbickvo.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Yeah, you’re missing the very obvious reason for that - on Twitter if you’re not sure you can look at the poster’s profile and quickly work out if it is serious or not. Here it is totally out of context.

It’s a small thing, but so illustrative of enshittification in general and Apple’s declining standards in particular. A simple alert box that was perfectly formatted in the previous iOS release but now mixes left justified text with a centralised button and an image that aligns with neither. Ugh.

I’m not big on original posts, nor do I follow many people (and therefore get followed back), I mainly use these platforms to read curated news and sometimes post replies. Engagement with some of those replies is many many times greater than I ever saw on Twitter. With a much smaller user base.

Total bollocks. Not only are these data centres being built specifically to run AI and not to store user data, they cannot even be used for the usual cloud tasks. It is basically useless for anything else - you can’t run a website on a frigging GPU.

We have been exhorting the Labour government here in the UK to do the same. Some small successes so far, with a handful of high level govt officials officially abandoning X.

He actually is the same person originally. When he switched from being Buckethead to Binface, some other guy stood in the election against him as Buckethead. Ludicrously enough.

I had no idea this was happening, and yet last night I dreamed I was at a crazy party hosted by Tom Stoppard. He drank vast amounts of beer (in the dream, I imagine him as having been more of a fine wine man in real life). Anyway, a giant of our times.

Trunch in Norfolk. Tiny pretty village, one decent pub. Nearby country pubs include the Gunton Arms, in a deer park, owned by a rich art dealer who needed somewhere to hang his collection, great food.

As corrupt, crooked and dishonest as these guys are, from Lutnick, Hassett, Bessent and Johnson to some of the not so bright GOP Reps, in the end it may be the unbearable smugness of being that does for them.

I don’t doubt that France has the ability. I do doubt that Softbank’s “pledge” is worth the paper it isn’t written on.
000
Tim Bick @timbickvo.bsky.social · 30/05/2026
That’s really not the point. Regardless of government intent, building these things is insanely difficult and expensive and a pledge from Softbank to spend some imaginary cash does not bring it any closer to happening. Check out how Stargate’s going.

Tim Bick @timbickvo.bsky.social · 30/05/2026
There’s a lot of appetite in the US too, and data center builds are still failing there.
130
Tim Bick @timbickvo.bsky.social · 30/05/2026
Nothing to do with France’s nuclear capability. These data center announcements have proven to be smoke and mirrors over and over. It’s even in the FT piece, that refers to this “to an extent, replacing Softbank’s commitment to spend $50bn on Stargate”. Because that was a pledge too.

Tim Bick @timbickvo.bsky.social · 30/05/2026
But Ed, they made a pledge! Do pledges mean nothing in business any more?

satisfaction and that is now the modus operandi for every large US corporation. The question is, will other countries do anything concrete to protect their own industries and consumers from this continual race to the bottom? On current evidence, the outlook is not hopeful.

a US company that already had a similar but much less effective product line, and has just kept the existing (probably cheaper to manufacture) product. Capturing the global market through endless corporate takeovers and mergers means you don’t have to worry about product quality or customer /3

quality crossover products that nobody asked for, blending the new awful tasting Cadbury chocolate with previously foreign stuff like Oreos. It also happens in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals - every time a product I use suddenly becomes discontinued, it turns out the manufacturer was taken over by /2

Tim Bick @timbickvo.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
Enshittification is not simply a technology-based phenomenon. I would argue that it is a US business corporation that cuts across all sorts of industries. When Kraft took over UK chocolate maker Cadbury, they immediately set about reducing the quality of the product, and introducing a lot of low /1

Minor correction: Anthropic is only saying it will be profitable next quarter, with a very specific get-out that costs will not remain as low later in the year. They have a temporary discount with SpaceX which does not change their overall position of having costs that increase with revenue.
