My Magic Space Robot Dad told me he was proud of me on the ride at Universal Studios. But no, I'm proud of YOU, Magic Space Robot Dad. (From Chaos Theory, by @jroberts332.bsky.social and art by @markerguru.bsky.social)
A page from "Chaos Theory," Transformers #23 (IDW 2011), a very cool issue by James Roberts and Alex Milne, where Orion Pax is yelling at the corrupt Cybertron Senate, quoting apparently "Tony Benn, a late British politician known for his progressive and anti-establishment views," about Three Questions you should demand to know of any powerful institution.

Really, if you guys haven't read James Robert's Transformers, or all of Transformers from this story on, you really should. They're freaking awesome

That's one heck of a neckbeard. Surprised his name isn't William Joseph Beardneck
It's old timey sepia photo of a guy who was born in 1821, named William Joseph Curry. I took a photo of my TV while we were watching ingredients and episode of Tasting History with Max Millar. I don't remember the episode, or what culinary thing this guy did. I took the photo because of his neckbeard. And I do mean neckbeard: he only has a beard on his, not his chin. He's clean shaven everywhere except his neck. I mean, I mean, it's pointing out perpendicular to his neck. It's weird!

The piece of art, Francisco Goya’s Saturn Devouring His Son, which is technically a painting, but it was painted not on a canvas, but on the walls of Goya's house. Based on the Greek/Roman myth, it's a terrifying big guy, who is literally eating the body of his son to prevent a prophesy. His son's head and right arm are already gone leaving bleeding stumps, having been eaten, and now the left arm is in Saturn's mouth up to the elbow. There's a look in Saturn's face and eyes that portrays absolute horror.

I love this painting, and want to get a series of comic art commissions of it, but that costs money and I need more space on the apartment walls.

My No Prize submission is that Stan's memory was shit and he got his Docs mixed up. Or Mordo's memory is shit, either one
And the last panel I pulled from Strange Tales #121, and Baron Mordo is doing his evil wizard thing and bombarding Steve's "ectoplasmic form" with "every magic force" at his command, so he's just shooting Steve with ALL OF THE MAGIC! Ol' Stephen Strange's not looking good, folks, how's he gonna get outta this one?!

Turns out that Dr. Strange can make a duplicate astral form that took the brunt of all the magic. Pretty bullshit solution if you ask me

Tim Bennett @timbennett.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
Unicron? Is that you? Also, Mordo, you were literally just talking with Dr. Strange's astral form (called ectoplasmic form in this issue, which is weird). Take a wild guess!
Another panel from Strange Tales #121, and Steve's astral form (called ectoplasmic form here), has taken control of a wax statue of some Asian guy (racist) that looks A LOT like Unicron, you know, the planet eater from Transformers: The Movie

The next panel is the statue grabbing hold of Baron Mordo, who is BAFFLED who could possibly be powerful enough to be controlling a wax statue. Dude, you were literally just arguing with him, take a wild guess!

It's that "Hello yes this is dog" meme, but without the textA panel from Strange Tales #121 this time. It's Steve again at home, and he's holding a pretty big phone receiver up to his head (seriously, like it's either that giant phone from Top Secret, or Steve just has a small head), because someone called him asking for help. I guess Dr. Strange just keeps a phone in his Sanctum? And it's for people to call him for magical help?? Is Dr. Strange in the white pages???

Also, the way the panels are arranged, when Steve answers the phone, "THIS IS DR. STRANGE! WHAT--???" Like, he's really annoyed that someone's calling him. Dude, just unplug it if you want some Steve Time in your mancave, sorry I mean Sanctum Sanctorum

Steve's such a name dropper. We get it, you have famous friends
Another panel from Strange Tales #120, this one has Steve surrounded by white swirls that is supposed to represent evil magic. I guess I'll call it evil magic because Steve, Mordo, and the Ancient One all say they're using "black magic," but only Mordo is evil? Whatever, Stan barely kept track so why should I?

Anyway, Steve is casting a spell I guess, he's doing that pointing his left hand at the camera through the white swirls and his right hand is posed also magically into the air. And his incantation is just all namedropping all those magical...people? But also places, that he knows that I guess gives him a boost to his magic powers. He does say, "In the name of the dread Dormammu!!" Which seems weird because Dormammu is evil, right? Why is Steve calling upon the powers of an evil demon or whatever the hell Dormammu is (all I know is he likes to bargain). He also says, "By the Hosts of the Hoary Hoggoth!" so I guess Stan hadn't nailed down that catchphrase yet....

When the good shit hits
Another panel from Strange Tales #120 (by Steve Ditko, Sam Rosen, and Stan Lee, btw), so that floating dick eye from my previous post has gone to Steve's head. His forehead, that is, and he can now look into the Haunted House (which is a living creature from another dimension, if you didn't see that other post), which is depicted by yellow light beaming out of the GIGANTIC eye on Steve's forehead, projecting the guy who entered the Haunted House for a TV show. I didn't mention that this is for a live TV special where they film the outside of the house while the guy goes in, so we can't see him, so isn't it a radio program? It was the 60s so maybe that sort of thing disappeared from the radio, who knows, whatever boomer

Anyway, it's a close of Steve's face, and his regular eyes make him look like he's super duper baked

😉
Two panels from Strange Tales #120, Steve is using his magic amulet AGAIN, which pretty much whatever he needs it to. At the moment, he wants to look inside a Haunted House (which turns out to be an alive creature from another dimension, spoilers!), so a big eye appears on the amulet. It's wide open, looking kinda shocked even though it doesn't have a face. The second panel is the eye floating out of the amulet, but the speed lines that Ditko drew makes it look like the eye is extending out of the amulet. Like a dick, it looks like dick.

It's too bad the MCU hasn't adapted this epic fight scene from Strange Tales #119, where two weirdos shine lights at each other for hours until they get sleepy. Maybe in Doctor Strange 3!
3 panels from Strange Tales #119, where Dr. Strange is fighting a weirdo named Aggamon, the All-Powerful! who’s the absolute ruler of the dread Purple Dimension, accessed only through an evil purple crystal, which Steve had just left lying around his Sanctum, but like an idiot left the window open so 2 well dressed burglars with stylish hats broke in and tried to steal it. So of course they get sucked into the dread Purple Dimension, which is not really THAT purple, there are a lot other colors there too, and with 60s coloring how can you really tell it's a dread Purple Dimension, or just some other evil dimension? And Aggamon, the All-Powerful! is green so where does he get off being the absolute ruler of the Purple Dimension. And his skimpy leotard and boots aren’t even purple, they’re red!

Anyway, Aggamon, the All-Powerful! has a collar so damn high that Steve gets collar envy and they have a light show fight: Steve with his magic amulet that he uses for EVERYTHING like a sonic screwdriver, and Aggamon, the All-Powerful! uses his "jeweled demolisher beam,” and the beam is actually purple! How about that. Oh, and I guess Steve is saving the lives of those two burglars, who do turn themselves in to the cops at the end and reform, so yay happy ending

The first panel is the height of the light show fight, and Steve's yellow light of fear and Aggamon, the All-Powerful!'s sapphire light of love are clashing in the middle, a big explosion of light! The second panel is pretty much the same thing but less exciting, these guys haven’t moved, shining their laser pointers at each other, but with less intensity because they’re both looking tired, not sure why since they’re both using devices, and Aggamon, the All-Powerful!’s is mechanical so they maybe his battery is getting low and he’s not used to standing this long? The final panel is both them slumped over exhausted, and their beams are now all weak and limp, look it happens to all of us. This Laser Floyd show sucks

Oh fuck off, Reed. You too, Stan
Three panels from Fantastic Four Annual #2 (1964), by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Chic Stone, and Sam Rosen. Not showed, but previously Dr. Doom enacted his plan to destroy the cursed Richards and his family ONCE AND FOR ALL! His scheme was invited them to a ceremony in their honor at the Latverian embassy, and they agreed because it hasn't been revealed to them or the world that Doom is the ruler of Latveria known as The Master (but has been revealed to us, True Believers). During the ceremony, Doom lacky slips the FF an herbal mickey that makes them hallucinate "the worst in each other," according to Reed. While trying to get busy with a lady, Johnny started tripping balls and saw Ben verbally and physically abusing him. Johnny didn't notice that not-Ben is slightly transparent so Johnny finds the real Ben and they get into a fight starting a big ruckus. Sue sees a transparent Reed making out with some rando chick and gets all womanly upset. Reed didn't down the roofied drunk they were offered, because he had a funny feeling about all this, but let his family quaff some mysterious liquid because Reed's a dick. Ben drank it but didn't get a chance to see some weird shit because his fight with Johnny started early. Doom's scheme is only foiled because Doom has an emo moment and wonders if he'll actually be happy once the FF are defeated. He melodramatically decides to check out his horribly scarred or whatever face in a mirror and "IT'S EVEN WORSE THAN I REMEMBERED!" and he laserguns the mirror. The FF go, hey what was that and they snap out their trip and chase Doom off. ANYWAY, we finally get our three panels and Sue is apologizing for being a fool not believing Reed would never cheat, and Reed says, "Not a fool, Sue...merely a FEMALE! You couldn't have acted differently!!"

Oh fuck off, Reed

That's a weird angle on Ben there, Jack
A panel from Fantastic Four Annual #2 (1964), by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Chic Stone, and Sam Rosen. Ben is testing a new adhesive that Reed created for NASA capsules by pulling two blocks apart that Reed had stuck together with the adhesive. Ben's successful, and Reed is happy that it took Ben only three seconds to pry them apart, which means the adhesive is "strong enough to hold a nose cone on a missile against the pull and stress of black-off!" The way Jack Kirby drew this is super weird though. Ben was facing away from us, and in the act of yanking these blocks apart (which look metal btw, a metal block sounds weird to me but I guess it's a thing), Ben causes himself to fly backwards, which again, is towards us. So, Jack draws him floating in mid-air on his back, his head craning back to look at us upside down. The two metal blocks are his hands at his sides, with a white goo splurting between them. It's not exactly the most graceful position for Ben to be in

And of course there'd be the performers, so a Klingon named General Motog would come out and yell at you while you're enjoying your Wrap of Khan and Holy Onion Rings of Betazed, which you wash down with your fishbowl of Warp Core Breach
A photo from Quark's Bar and Restaurant from the Star Trek Experience (RIP) that was in the Las Vegas Hilton, of four fucking nerds wearing Next Gen uniforms (though they don't look that nerdy, so nerds can be sexy now). It's three guys and one woman, but the guys are wearing command red, and the woman is wearing operations gold. What, woman can't be captains?! Anyway, they're going to town on a fishbowl of steaming red liquid (it's steaming from dry ice), using long colorful straws. This is a drink I've had a bunch of times when visting the Star Trek Experience, and it's a Warp Core Breach. Here's a recipe from the official Star Trek site, but it's not the one we used to make that had Sobe Power, which no longer exists. Taking some course training on risk management, and the guy in the video says, "Every day you wake up, there is a new risk on this planet that can take your life. Every day you wake up, there is a new risk that can derail your project."
Shot from the Simpsons, the one where Krusty dies, if memory serves me correctly. Bart is lying in bed in his pajamas and holding a Krusty doll. Homer is leaning in super intensely, and is telling Bart, "Why, you could wake up dead tomorrow. Well, good night." And Bart is frowning and his eyes are huge and worried because he finally feels the grim spectre of death like never before.

Coulda used an obvious one, but I'm gonna go with a deep cut A movie that takes place where you're from
A shot from the movie Scavenger Hunt (1979), featuring Richard Mulligan (from Empty Nest) standing in the parking lot of a strip mall in San Diego, leaning against a taxi snd looking at an envelope and eating a banana. I know this mall specifically, it's on Garnet Ave in PB, because it had our favorite pasta restaurant in the late 90s/early 2000s (it was more 90s than Italian). They'd make their own pasta fresh with different flavors, like spinach or red pepper, and then you'd pick your own sauce. So fucking good, though it's been gone for a couple decades now. RIP Lotsa Pasta. Their garlic soup was really good too, though some indigestion could happen. Anyway, even though some scenes were filmed at the Huntington Library, most of it was filmed around SD, like at Balboa Park and the zoo and shit. So, I say it takes place in SD too, so there.

A panel from Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye (which is fucking great, btw. Don't know which issue but it's got that good, good Alex Milne art) of Rodimus blaming Megatron (who's an Autobot now, btw) for something and Megatron us wryly smiling and denying guilt. Megatron who is pretty tall compared to Rodimus, is telling Rodimus: "We are being chased by a planet." Rodimus is pleased by this news and says "Cool," but in the next panel he's scratching what passes for a Cybertronian eyebrow, clearly processing this new info. In the last panel Ol' Rod just can't parse this and says " Sorry, what?"
