I had an absolute blast writing this erotic essay! It asks the poignant question, "When we touch buildings, do they touch us back?" It's called "Touching Buildings" and it's relatively short, open access, and it's sexy. Enjoy! diamond-oa.lib.cam.ac.uk/entities/pub...

A 1968 Ford Country Sedan features in Will McBride's wonderful photo from Manhattan in 1976.
A huge station wagon is impeded at an intersection in New York by a drunk who has leant into the hood of the car, leaving an improbable triangular shape between his near-levitating body, the car, and the ground.

Listening to Frank's Wild Years by Tom Waits and it's 1988 and I'm driving from Moscow, Idaho to Portland, Oregon, hallucinating lightly after a long night with my dear, dead friend Boyd. Never drive a car when you're dead, Boyd. Oh my goodness how music drives memory, now drive my car for me.
Steering wheel and dash of a 1968 Ford LTD. I drove a Country Sedan station wagon, but the dashboard and interiors were the same as an LTD. Note how the horn is a half ring dangling from the column. It's assumed you'll be reclining while driving, and thus only barely able to reach the horn with your thumb as your hands have migrated as far south as the wheel will allow.

Winslow Homer, The Veteran in a New Field, 1865. Public Domain, Metropolitan Museum of Art. A reaper wields a single-bladed scythe in a field of grain. Painted after the US Civil War, hope and grief are here presented together as agricultural renewal against the backdrop of the grim reaper's unfailing scythe.

Edinburgh doesn't need the castle when it has the Poop Hotel as its emoji. I think your Tam O'Shanter Experience would rhyme nicely with it. I will come eat haggis in the restaurant when it's built.
Edinburgh's infamous Poop Hotel. A brown swirl of a building in exactly the shape of the ubiquitous poo emoji. In this image someone has added googly eyes to the building so that the comparison is inevitable.

In the war room at the White House at 3am a cloud of wild strawberry vape smoke hangs heavy over furrowed brows and blank stares as urgent questions are addressed. How do we gain vengeance? Shall we kidnap the President of Belgium? Or do we simply bomb its capital, Luxembourg?
The war room scene from Stanley Kubrick's 1964 film Dr Strangelove. A large round table lit by a suspended halo of light is ringed with White Men in ties discussing impending violence.

Animal World cup?
Stacks of paper cups, two filled with orange liquid, with cartoon animals and text reading 'Animal World'. This is obviously a pun on the words 'World Cup' which refers to a formerly somewhat respectable (at least in some circles) international sporting event.

So here's an optimistic point! There will be a huge amount of meaningful work for landscape architects when all the foreign US military bases are converted to regional parks.
The Presidio in San Francisco, one of the world's great parks, is a former military base. This image, from Wikimedia Commons, shows a gun emplacement in the park with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.

3) Tie (don’t cap) pay: no staff member, whether cleaning, security, or senior management should make more than double what the lowest paid staff earns. If you can’t attract people w/ high salaries, you have to focus on fantastic working conditions including providing nothing but meaningful work.

I do wish to be ungrateful. This is an average building but I love these crazy scuppers. They'll be lost under this greenwashing project, at least until it's removed when the living wall dies in a couple of years because we have laid off the maintenance staff for daft performances like this.
