So, I built a new peanut feeder, mounted on top of the eye-level stump that the camera bird feeder is on. I saw that some peanuts had been eaten, didn’t know if the ravens had found it, or smaller birds. How about, neither? #catsofmastodon

Pleasant find, in my own yard. Log chunks from a couple dead trees have been slowly getting moved to a place where I can cut firewood, but the piece I grabbed today has oyster mushrooms growing out of it.

Mixed peppers from the greenhouse. Most were smoked, all dried. From here, turned into “smoky seasoning dust” in the blender. Really needs smell-o-vision to do it justice though.

White pasta fish on the counter, full of dried, smoky versions of several kinds of peppers. Some like habaneros, red Korean chillies, a few mild ones, and a couple small Carolina reapers

Meet Pickles. She was one of our foster kittens, now she is (or we are?) a “foster fail.” Her siblings are getting adopted out from our local rescue, but my little buddy here will stay put. #CatsOfMastodon

We had a #chicken #rescue at home today, when my wife happened to find one of our silkies in the kiddie pool outside. Soaked, exhausted, and losing consciousness shortly after she was found. Warm “magic bag”, towel, blow-drying and a rest, and she’s back to normal!

Our cats become rather scarce when our daughter/son-in-law/and their dog visit for a bit. Mostly that last one of course, though they’re used to our own. Anyway, it was nice to be joined by Minnie for some up-close time now that everyone else has headed back home.

Luna is my helper of the day. She’s been in the desk bed for hours, except for when she needs to cling to my shoulder and happy-drool all over me. Doesn’t hurt that there is a heating pad under the cushion to keep it toasty for a couple hours at a time. #cats #CatsOfMastodon

Got out for a lovely nature walk with local org, Greenways Land Trust. The guest guide is really into tiny creatures called springtails, so it was a short distance walk with lots of close-up looking at things

The day started with pea-soup fog, but was beautiful with in a hour of my going out. (Though I really love a good fog, too.)
