“I can’t believe you’re actually here” She whispers through her tears.

“I know, I know” He comforts, hot tears unfamiliar on his rough skin.

Rey feels suffocated on the Resistance Base. Her purpose is teetering on the edge of a canyon. Her and Ben make a plan to run away together. In the rolling hills of the mountains and the glistening iridescent hues of the water, they learn about each other and help one another overcome pain. Will this be how their lives start or will it all fall apart at the hands of the Resistance?

Um. So I was not expecting this. Written in anger about The Hunt for Ben Solo (that's a lie, I started writing it in august but thats not the point.)

Notes:

SO.... welcome.
Basically the prompt was 'lets run away together!' and it was supposed to be like a 9k one shot fluff fic. But somehow it evolved into a 33k 10 chapter fic?!
I'm not really sure what happened or why I suddenly started writing a Reylo fic, but HEY, i had tons of fun writing this and I hope you have fun reading it (if anyone does end up reading it?)
Oh, and each chapter is going to have a song dedicated to it. This chapter actually has 2 songs (but thats an exception). The songs are: 'You Shaped Hole by Baby Queen' for the first half and 'Nightcall by London Grammar' for the second half.
I really recommend listening to them while you read 'cause they really fit the chapter.

Notes:

The idea for Aerobics Hux and the colorful outfits comes from the Lego Force Awakens video game, where our fearless heroes interrupt the ginger general leading a stormtrooper workout. Yes, the troopers are wearing helmets and unitards in the game. But not utility belts.

Also, as I was writing the ending for this story, it occurred to me that maybe this is why Pryde was in charge instead of Hux in that smoking dumpster fire called Episode 9.

The symbols carved into the trees and stone are fading, their power dying with the light and somewhere between the pines, something has begun to follow her. When the magic is gone, she'll have to decide what's worse: being claimed by the darkness, or by the beast.

Years ago, I started writing this very fic and I never knew where I wanted to go with it and it went unfinished before eventually being removed. Well now, that's all changed. I have the story planned out, and all the inspiration.

I have no beta, please ignore grammar mistakes and any inaccuracies since this is a historical, gothic horror, fairy-tale retelling.

I wrote this in March 2020 just for myself. I'd never written anything in my life. I've never had a movie get to me, break my heart, like TROS did. I cried so hard. I actually did not like Kylo during TFA/TLJ. Then at the beginning of TROS, something changed. By the Kef Bir scene, I was full on Reylo. Better late than never, I guess. I didn't know about fanfiction. I didn't know about AO3.

For days, I could not stop thinking about the movie. Ben dying was an atrocity. So I simply wrote two sentences. The first two you will read. Then a day later, the first paragraph. Then it all came tumbling out as I furiously typed into my phone while sitting in a parking lot. It was cathartic. My best friend asked me what was wrong. For days I had been so sad. I finally had to tell her. She then discovered Wattpad and talked me into publishing it.

Zuko was meditating in his room in the palace of Omashu. The palace was huge (well, by eastern standards) and mostly empty, so during Zuko's second trip to the city, Bumi had decided it would be amusing to give him the suite that was traditionally reserved for the monarch's children, as a sort of personal embassy for whenever he decided to visit. Zuko had been astounded when nobody had complained, but they were used to that kind of thing here. It was the kind of joke Bumi liked best, technically an honor but tremendously insulting at the same time. It kept everyone guessing - was Zuko, who was openly at war with the rest of the Earth Kingdom, somehow trusted enough to be accommodated right next to the King himself, with only the length of a single corridor between them? Did Bumi consider Zuko so far beneath notice as a warrior, a spy, an assassin, that having him in such close proximity was no concern at all? Did Bumi have so little respect for the Earth King of Ba Sing Se that he was pleased to host the son of the Earth King’s greatest enemy under his own roof? The answer was any or all of the above.

She raised the blade skyward and drew a blazing trail through the invisible veil beyond the air itself, once, twice, thrice (Love! Love! Love!)

Rey remembered what General Organa had said about her bond with Luke. About how the Force had connected them. As soon as we met, I knew he was…someone important to me…It was as though I’d always known.

And wasn’t that how she’d felt, the first time she’d come face-to-mask with Ren, in that vision in the dungeon under the castle in Takodana?

She’d known he was…someone important…Even before he’d shown his face to her, she’d recognised his black-shrouded, hulking form as that of The Man. The nameless man who’d always brightened her daydreams. And stalked her nightmares.

yaaaaay thank you Kamikaze Douga and Anima I loved this so much. Vol 1 was only really interesting for the visuals, but what I loved about the novel was the way it paralleled canon SW events and character archetypes in a different galaxy with a different history and philosophy of the Force

Of course, there were times when she’d imagined the island was where her parents had lived, once. Imagined that perhaps she’d been born there, in the deep green that rose out of the dark blue ocean and touched the bright blue sky. Imagined that one day, her parents would come and take her back there to live, amongst the seals and the seabirds, under the dappled light which played through the quiet leaves of the lone great tree that stood in the safest and most beautiful faraway place in the world.

But, as Ren had forced her to admit to him—to herself—that had always been a lie she’d told to comfort herself.

good morning #reylosss This is a few chapters ahead of where I’m supposed to be

Ah. Rey snorted, almost laughed at her own foolishness. So this was the terrifying beast she had glimpsed [through the Force meditation]. A wounded war mastiff, seemingly abandoned by the Order, panting hard as it bled out on the sand.

Its wild, shaggy black coat did give it a certain resemblance to Ren, she had to admit. But it’s eyes were strange; the right the deep crimson of Jakkuvian night-blooming roses, and the left ocean-blue, both growing dim as the beast’s life-force faded. A truly pitiful sight.

She saw the stain of the mastiff’s blood, dark against the sand, and felt that same chill run through her again. The sand turned crystalline white and dense underfoot. The blood turned a brighter red. Blood on snow. She blinked, looked away. Breathed. Refocused.

With that thought, the woolliness blanketing Rey’s senses lifted a little. She shivered with a sudden chill, as though the shadow of dark wings had momentarily passed over the sun. Her skin tickled with the brush of soft invisible black fur. (Somehow she knew it was black). [[ Do I leave this in or is too unsubtle. Rey is an unsubtle thinker.]]She saw a flash of red in darkness. A flash of blue. The scent of blood.

Her eyes snapped open as she flinched in panic. Was that Ren she had sensed? Was he here? She fought to keep her breath at an even pace.

Stars, what was wrong with her? She’d never been afraid of battle since she was a small child! She had not been afraid of Ren in Takodana, in Ilum. She had not.
