My mother Gillian Freeman was the ‘Gillian’ in the film. She and the author Ricky Braithwaite were teachers at an east end school in the ‘50’s. They had an affair and both went on to be successful writers. She and Ricky stayed in touch til she died in 2019.

I was lucky enough to work with Prunella and Tim in the West End production of When We Are Married for 7 months, many years ago now. She was brilliant in it and full of wisdom and guidance back stage and I feel so lucky to have learnt so much from watching her
