We need to acknowledge the role that social media algorithms and media fragmentation have played in dragging people down rabbit holes that are difficult to escape from. Let’s be charitable and allow for the possibility that many of those folks have been brainwashed.

We know how it came to pass. Trump and the GOP figured out that misinformation and disinformation, replicated by right wing echo chambers lie FauxNews, X, etc., could create and nurture fear in a segment of the population, and brainwash them into believing that only Trump could fix it.

I keep getting e-mails, texts and web ads from Dem senate candidates from outside my state asking me to pitch in to help them win and flip the Senate. While I’m sympathetic to their cause, I’m not going to donate until they promise to leave me alone (forever) after I donate.
