Aaaaaand I broke sommat. This I why I keep backups. No, having a backup for your homelab is NOT overkill. Currently restoring my Docker VM from last night's backup.

Portainer's moving away from Docker and self-hosters. So I'm moving to Dockhand. Currently moving my configs across one by one.

I know many anime fans. I know many parents (some of which still have small children). Stumbled across this one which should appeal to the crossover section: www.tiktok.com/@mickslife20...

OK, the most basic of basic playbooks now works. It tells me my nested inventory of device groups is OK and the service account is correctly setup across all of them.

The homelab continues to slowly evolve. I now have a working Gitea instance, to go alongside Semaphore/Ansible (finally got around to seeing what it can do, instead of it sitting there) so I can automate the updates. Next steps: - Figure out playbooks & shell scripts - Backups for new OMV NAS.

OK, so my handful of single-use VMs and containers now backup twice a week. My Docker VM backs up daily. Those backups then get synced to cloud storage once a week. That should drastically reduce the chance of having to rebuild any one system from scratch. (Never fun.)

Well, I've added a degree of resiliency to my VM backups. I already, as of recently, threw a copy of Proxmox backup Server on an old laptop and back my VMs and CTs at least once a week. Now, I'm trying out a cloud PBS service I can then also sync my backups to for an offsite copy.

Next time I get to play D&D, I want to play a bard. And have either a soundboard (or on my guitar) Ezio’s bard songs from AC:Revalations or Jimmy’s “Strawberry Hollow” from South Park: the Stick of Truth.

Before and After speed tests. Moved from PlusNet (over OpenReach) to Virgin Media. Now have significantly faster speeds for about the same price per month (less, once I cancel my old BT line) and because I ordered it in the Black Friday sale I have the first 3 months free.
