Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Whenever I’m in a crowd during an O Canada anthem I *always* tear up because it’s a *sing a long!!* and it’s always so wholesome to hear the whole audience participate BUT AT THE END OF MY OWN CITIZENSHIP CEREMONY? Cried. Full tears. 🇨🇦 19542
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Oh wow! This time next week, I'll be a Canadian citizen !!!!! It didn't *really* hit me how much this meant to me until I got the email just now and now I'm sitting at my desk tearing up so I'm very much looking forward to crying in a room full of folks like me next week!! 🇨🇦 7360
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 28/08/2026if it is nighttime with at least partially clear skies where you are, a lunar eclipse is in progress and the moon will go deeper into a a red colour now and over the next ~3 hours - go see if you can spot it from your bedroom window! 🌕 120
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 22/08/2026I am in the Midwest US where the moon is up but also there is a thunderstorm 030

Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 12/08/2026We had such a good time. What a day! What luck with weather! So many kind folks and enthusiastic kiddos and incredibly helpful volunteers and even a few good dogs. ☀️ 082
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 12/08/2026i have gotten so many emails and phone calls today and have done a handful of interviews and I'M LOVING FOLKS' EXCITEMENT FOR THIS (PARTIAL) SOLAR ECLIPSE weeeee ☀️🌑 050
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Quoting only to put this to more eyeballs - I absolutely do nottttttt anticipate this level of craziness tomorrow! And, we’ll be in an area that doesn’t have just a single entrance! April 8, 2024 was bonkers! I still can’t believe how many people showed up. 240
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 10/08/2026Folks! I am running an event on SMU campus this Wednesday (Aug 12) for the PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE. NS is best-suited in nearly all of North America to see this partial eclipse. We'll be giving out free eclipse glasses and will have SAFE solar telescopes out on the lawn. Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 09/08/2026no rain! Arkells and Jonas Brothers were 10/10 and tbh I also killed it jumping around through a show at 6 mo pregnant. Go us! 180
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I just spent about 10 minutes sitting in the shade in my driveway picking a containers-worth of blueberries; just what I could reach within arm’s length. This blueberry bush is ~7ft tall and goes down the length of our house. We have. A lot. Of berries. 3190
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 07/08/2026jonies show tomorrow looks like it’s gonna be HOT then it’s gonna be RAINY and tbh I much prefer the rain rather than the hot 010
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 06/08/2026moonrise looks absolutely menacing over Dartmouth right now, enjoy this terrible photo 061
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 05/08/2026As part of a group of amateur and professional astronomers specifically watching for either a flash from impact or a resulting plume, no one in the group (including me) has reported seeing anything yet, at least not anything obvious. Worth a shot here given the rare clear skies in NS, but now sleep 050
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 05/08/2026I don’t see anything in my image previews at this point and I’ve crashed the imaging software just like this rocket debris has crashed into the moon…. 🥴 Task failed? But images acquired? So maybe a success regardless? In any case, I’ll submit my images to teams Doing Science. 🚀 170
Reposted by TiffanyDavid Dickinson @astrodave.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Space junk up, space junk down. We’ve got a high-interest doubleheader tonight, both centered on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, both involving SpaceX: a pre-dawn launch, and a lunar impact. 142
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Moon’s up. Tonight (aka morning of Aug 5) at 3:35am Atlantic, a large piece of SpaceX Falcon 9 debris will impact the edge of the moon (from our perspective). The impact flash itself is unlikely to be seen, but there may be a visible (with telescopes) plume extending out from the disc of the moon. 131

Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026"wait, a microwave [oven] works because of light?" I asked, out loud; as a person with a masters degree in astrophysics, intensely involved in helping the public understand science... ok, whoops, my bad. can we blame this on the fact i'm barely sleeping & ~6 months pregnant? alright thanks guys 5120

Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 15/07/2026I’m not living in the US anymore but if I were, my preference is permanent daylight time and not permanent standard time *ducks* Like you’re already on daylight time for 8 months of the year! It just makes sense to extend that rather than change 8 whole months to standard! *dodges tomatoes* 110

Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 07/07/2026To me, the most impressive part of the World Cup is how country-specific supporters have been able to be at every game in droves! Tickets were so hard to buy and somehow there’s huge sections and huuuge numbers of people wearing the specific jerseys of the teams playing? I’m in awe. 000

Reposted by TiffanyAstronomer Royal for Scotland | Catherine Heymans @astroroyalscot.bsky.social · 17/06/2026There was one time, showing someone Saturn through the telescope, that I was asked "so is that between us and the moon or is it further away?" It's a logical question, with occultations like this 👇unequivocally proving that the planets are further away! 🔭🧪 📽️ Watch as Venus hides behind the moon 🤩 2346
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Visible from across much of Canada (and much more) today - in a few hours actually - the moon will cover up Venus in the sky for a short bit. However... viewing this in the sky requires LOTS OF PRECAUTION because it happens IN THE DAYTIME when the sun is up -- and the SUN IS DANGEROUS TO LOOK AT!! 120
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Spotted: Venus, tiny Jupiter, and very thin crescent Moon. Mercury is likely in there somewhere but not bad from peering over the fence while my dogs were in the yard! 160
Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 13/06/2026I’m back from a week at the astronomy conference and I had the delight of being on an airplane put into a holding pattern for the first time because we didn’t pass visibility minimums at YHZ at 3am - but we eventually landed in fog so deep I could barely see the wing after landing! 250

Tiffany @tiffzny.bsky.social · 04/06/2026a student brought me a sundae from the Dairy Bar (flavour of the week is banana + chocolate) and truly she needs to just be given her degree right now because she had it filled into a TRAVEL MUG so it wouldn't melt on her way to the office and this travel-mug-sundae idea is GENIUS 😭🙏🍦 7251
