We’re excited to formally introduce our 2025 Mentees! Over the course of a calendar year, our mentees work one-on-one with published authors/illustrators to edit their manuscripts and learn about the publishing process, preparing them to navigate this competitive industry.

A purple promotional graphic titled, “Meet Our 2025 Mentees!” The graphic is decorated with black arch that has small rays coming out across the top.

A purple promotional graphic displaying a white web browser window. At the top of the browser window there is text that says, “About the We Need Diverse Books Mentorship Program.” Beneath, in smaller body text, it says, “The Mentorship program aims to support marginalized writers and illustrators by pairing them with an experienced professional in the field. Our mentors work one-on-one with a mentee and their completed draft of a manuscript over the course of a year, offering advice to improve craft and to better understand the publishing industry.”
