I trick-or-treated from a friend's house regularly (she lived in a more dense neighborhood) and her dad "taxed us" one fun sized Snickers each. Seems fairer and more reasonable.

I went to the first post-pandemic one, it was terrifying.

I don't know if the sonic deterrents actually work, but K bought them after I saw a mouse and then we never saw a mouse again, so I am okay throwing $30 at a "maybe this will work" effort.

I got sonic deterrents because I cannot set traps effectively and our property management are like "here are some glue traps, we'll put you on the exterminator list, they'll be by next Tuesday" and I hate glue traps.

I can engage with someone with good faith if we're debating "direct money or job to earn money." I cannot talk to someone who thinks concentration camps are okay. There are similarly people who probably cannot engage with my hard line stance that all abortion should be safe and legal.
