Congratulations to TIA PhD student Smriti Dhungel who’s the recipient of funding from the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board. She's investigating the viability of a circular nutrient economy in Tasmania, where nutrients from organic waste can be returned to productive use on farms.

Soil compaction is a critical issue in agriculture. Compacted soil restricts root growth, reduces water infiltration, and hinders nutrient uptake and can lead to decreased crop yields. In this short video TIA soil scientist Dr Bianca Das explains how soil scientists measure soil compaction.
