Genuine guilty pleasure. Ecological disaster notwithstanding

It's impressive how easy it is to go back to the dark ages.

Rooting for you guys from Estonia.

Agreed. Some of the best "metal art" in general.

Revisiting this to say I felt very manipulated by Empty Vessel Hymn today. Good job.

A bunch of really good music. I missed this sound more than I missed most things.

It's Bandcamp Friday again, which means all proceeds go to the artist. I'll make special mention of this record, which stands out as the most wild/experimental work in my catalog. Feel free to check out any of the others as well. Thank you! #metalsky

Public dogpiling yes, but hostility at the individual level too. I agree with the spirit of your original message, though. Just giving my useless perspective.

THUNRAZ @thunraz.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

And even if you aren't "crushed", you're just ignored. Nuance has left the room a long time ago.

THUNRAZ @thunraz.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

I feel like what holds me back is this general sense of hostility that I didn't really notice before 2015. Everyone's being judged much more harshly now and you have to choose your words very carefully or you're a shit person. People much smarter and more empathetic than me have been crushed by it.

100% support what these guys are doing, not just because the drummer played on my record. Lots of surprises here, from straightforward brutality to surprisingly emotional acoustic sections with some great singing. There's a melancholy that is very recognizable in my own music as well. #metalsky

Regardless of how you classify Dejecter, the band plays a fascinating mix of straightforward brutality and risk-taking creativity.

"As if it were a Greek tragedy where the gods curse, attack, and kill the most extraordinary human beings, this is how the musical essence and background of the album “Incineration Day” will be presented in a forceful and reflective way" #metalsky

A blog post said "one of the best bands you've never heard". Too bad the link was dead.

Was there one? Can't think of anything.

I remember it being all the rage on Lambgoat back in 2007. Still has a certain magic.

"Crushing guitar riffs are complemented here and there by a more atmospheric passage flirting with melody, a thicker and higher roaring vocal, a bit of psycho pure singing, and overall this charge can be remotely compared to the collision of INNER THOUGHT,MINDROT and PITCHSHIFTER in 2024." #metalsky

Hyperfocus is pretty important for me too. I'd say I just let it happen when it strikes. Not something that I can invite, it sort of comes and then the songs seem to write themselves.

THUNRAZ @thunraz.bsky.social · 17/12/2024

More praise for the new album, particularly the track "Incinerator". Starts at about 26:48 and goes on for 3 minutes. Check out the rest of the podcast as well; it's quite entertaining. #metalsky
