9 anime and manga to get to know me. Fun to make! It's been a while since I tried to make top N lists for these. I feel like you can pick out when I was watching/reading the most but there are a couple recent additions.

I'm no illustrator, so I leaned on my experience with data viz and made a clean, high-contrast aesthetic that was easy to repeat. This isn't how I'd want all of my games to look, but I'm happy with it as an aesthetic for a low-key abstract strategy game.

A playing card for my board game, Octico. The card is purple. Card-shaped objects are arranged in a 3-by-3 grid with the center missing. Five are white and three are black. Below the grid is the word "Octico".

Likewise, but the card is teal this time.

The center card. Unlike the other two cards, ONLY the center card-shaped object is visible. The word "Center" is written above and below it. The card is white.

Hey friends, I'm doing something kind of wild: I made a board game. I think it's pretty fun, and I'm gonna order a few copies of it soon. I'll be placing this order no matter what. Anyone wanna go in on it with me?

A front-of-the-box mockup for my board game, Octico. The tagline reads "A Tactical Twist on Tic-Tac-Toe". An info box explains the game is for two players, ages 8+, and will take about 5-15 minutes. In the center, purple and teal card-shaped objects make a 3-by-3 grid, with the center card replaced by a smaller repeat of the grid, and the center of THAT grid replaced by the same, creating a tunnel effect.

A back-of-the-box mockup. On the bottom right is an illustration of the game in progress, showing a card being pushed into position. Down the left side is some marketing copy. It reads:

"Octico is tic-tac-toe, reinvented.

Over 50 ways to win! Free your mind from three-in-a-row. Your cards determine your strategy.

Push your opponent around! Want that corner spot? Take it. Nowhere is safe for long.

Different every game! No two boards are alike. Every turn is a puzzle."

Fancy decaf day. Just tried the one on the left. It's a cascara reinfusion: the beans are decaffeinated, then soaked in cascara tea, which is tea made from the coffee cherry itself. Extremely floral and fruity, almost overwhelmingly so. Never had anything like it.

Dialect test got me read me for filth. An adulthood spent mostly in Ohio dulled my accent - I remembered saying some of this stuff differently as a kid - but did not eliminate it mydialect.us/quiz-standar...

Catching up on Jaadugar and I can't get over Sitara's "No one will defeat me till I have my revenge" face. Incredible expression work

Sitara, the main character of the anime Jaadugar: A Witch In Mongolia. Her expression is subtle and multitudinous, scheming and fury dancing atop an incongruous smile.

Himuro Mansion was once the home of a large landowner that controlled vast areas of land. They also say that the site of the landowner's ownership was big and that the land, of which there was a lot, was all owned by the big landlord.
