This fearless little friend pretty much walked across my feet
A young Australian magpie in the grass. You can tell it is young by the grey in his feathers where an adult would have white.

Trying to get this done while small human attempts to kill me with cat noise songs. Help. This warp is almost on and then the loom is ready for some weaving and experiments.
Partially warped loom. Thread is through the heddles and being put through the reed which is laying flat for that purpose.

My fav point with this yarn is when it starts resembling a little flower. #Knitting at the park while the small human runs riot. First sunny day here in a while.
The flat flower like shape of the end of this ball of yarn held in my hand. It’s grey, there’s a blue and white pencil case on the shot as well.

The floof from my last post now on the bobbin for my next wall hanging. Measuring and washing to go. #handwoven #handcrafted #handspun
2 wooden spinning bobbins filled with rather grimy white yarn.

Today, in the process of making floof from the locks, I took skin off my knuckle. Wouldn't be a problem, but of course it is the finger I use to tension and manipulate my knitting yarn... of course 😭
My hand holding a fluffed out corridale lock. Basically looks like a teeny white fan of white fleece

This last Sunday’s spinning was alpaca and silk. They’re trickier but once I got the hang of it I did very much enjoy it. #handspunyarn #handspinning #beginnerspinner

Off the wheel tonight. I have been requested to make a scarf from this which I think is very doable. #handspun #spinning #knitting

I made yarn! First ever ball and it’s a mess of over and underspun but I’m really happy with it. It’s Leicester cross breed fleece, spun in the grease and washed after plying (2ply) #handspunyarn #handspinning #yarn
A loose ball of natural/off white yarn that is very thick and thin and over and under spun.

First finished project of 2026. The Simpler Sinister Cat Sweater by An Caitin Beag made in an adult 8 for my little human because my tension is insane so its finished dimensions are that of the size 5 in childrens. Yeah.. that’s a thing. Fits her perfectly. Yet to be blocked.
A sweater lying on a grey bed spread with the arms crossed over the abdomen section. The main colour and collar is dark teal. There’s a contrast yoke in vibrant pink and yellow and is worked so that a row of stylised cats show at the bottom of the yoke. Cuffs and waist band are in the same contrast colour.

As a #hollowknight and #silksong fangirl this is absolutely my fav gift of the day. Chosen by my little miss who knows me well. Family have been and gone, floors have been swept and mopped, and now tea and knitting. I hope everyone had a lovely day.
A mug featuring the knight character from hollow knight lying on their side in a black background. A speech bubble says ‘nope’ and below him is written ‘not today’. The handle and inner are vibrant red.

Day 24 of #artadventcalendar. Finally got to actually sewing this today. Right in time for one small miss to be very happy. Have a good day tomorrow, all. Eat well, rest, and find some pleasure and quiet in there.

Day 22 of #artadventcalendar. This price of weaving was the final result of a 4 shaft weaving course and is a mix of cotton, cottolin, and linen. It will eventually be made into a bag but I’m still very happy with how it turned out as a fabric.
A length of handwoven fabric in neutral beige, white and natural colours. It’s a pattern of intersecting stripes in both direction that are random widths, material and colours

Day 21 of #artadventcalendar and we have the pink socks I knitted for my little one. This is a lovely hand dyed sock yarn by Maximo Yarns.
One pink hand knit sock on one small humans foot. It’s really nothing fancy, just a plain knit with ribbed cuff

Catching up on days 17 and 18 of #artadventcalendar with these two #crochet cardigans I made for my daughter and myself last year… this year? I think last year. Hers is absolutely unicorn puke and acrylic for washability, and mine is merino. Same pattern. Very different results.
My daughter cocoon cardigan made in rainbow acrylic with pastel rainbow trim hanging on the back of a chair. It legit looks like a unicorn puked it up and she LOVES itMy cocoon cardigan hanging on the back of the door. It’s a deep red/wine red merino trimmed with a dark grey merino/silk blend. It’s super comfy and I wear it a lot.

Day 16 of #artadventcalendar … yeah, uhm, welcome to my brain.
It’s a pencil sketch. The bottom looks kind of like a lady sitting with her knees folded, the top has fairy-ish wings, and there’s nothing resembling a head…

Day 15 of #artadventcalendar and have this very odd little drawing I did sometime in the past few years. I honestly can’t tell you what was aiming for but this is the type of random my brain does when it’s left to its own devices
Uhm a small line drawing of a sort of fat body with truncated arms and legs… it’s hard to explain. Sorry.

Day 14 of #artadventcalendar from last night! It’s a beginners #embroidery sampler to practice basic stitches and the first embroidery I’ve ever done. I really enjoyed it and have a new one to start today.
An embroidery sampler showcasing different stitch types. The finished piece is in a rainbow of colours and forms a heart shape.

Another very old one for day 12 of #artadventcalendar This would be high school pre-2000 pen on paper. Not awful anatomy but gosh she’s skinny.
A drawing of a slender woman’s back. She’s leaning slightly on a decorative piece of… wall. Yeah let’s call it wall. Her hair is tied in a bun and she’s naked.

Day 11 of #artadventcalnedar This was my very first woven object. A small grey wool scarf made out of baby yarn. It’s very soft and warm. 2018. Rigid Heddle.
A small, folded l, grey scarf with tassels. There’s about a 1inch textured section in view in the photo.

Day 9 of #artadventcalendar is last years cute 4 shaft weaving sampler. I loved doing this. Should do some more.
A yellow, white and black piece of hand weaving that’s about as wide as a scarf. It showcases different weave patterns.

Day 8 of #artadventcalendar soft pastels. I’m overdue to get back to making things in paper… meh. Early 2020s.
I’m not sure how to describe this. It’s basically a cropped photo of a midsection and thighs that has been stylised with ink and pink pastels to resemble rolling hills.

Day 7 of #artadventcalendar. One of my favourite photos of my favourite comfy make. This green #crochet jumper has fallen apart but it was the snuggliest, warmest, fluffiest merino jumper to ever exist. Modelled by my little human who wants doing the best Kate Bush dance impression ever.
My daughter wearing a thick, warm, vibrant green jumper that is MANY sizes too big over her tshirt and leggings. She has her hands in the air as I caught her mid interpretive dance ala Kate Bush

Day 6 of #artadventcalendar I’m not much of a beader but I made this little leather and carnelian bead bracelet and wore it until it fell apart. I really should make a new one.
A simple bracelet of spherical orange carnelian beads strung between two strips of black leather wrapped twice around my very pasty wrist. I am burn if I consider going in the sun white

Day 5 of #artadventcalendar is probably a weird one to others but this little bundle of yarn was my first attempt at spinning on a drop spindle. Definitely falls into an art yarn category. #handspun #dropspindle
A bundle of vibrant green yarn with sections of gold/yellow through it. It is very bobbly and uneven in weight and ply

My #fastenoffyarnong goes well. Simpler Sinister Sweater #knit with hand dyed yarn for the pink and yellow (held double) and a commercial teal yarn.
The top yoke of a sweater still on the needles. The ribbed collar is in a dark teal, the main yoke is vibrant pink and yellow hand dyed yarn, and there’s the silhouette of cats added in teal at the bottom of the yoke. The remainder of the jumper will be in the teal.

Being in Australia it is actually day 2 of #artadventcalendar and I just stumbled on this blast from the past. This would have been done somewhere around 2000 when I was still in high school. Pen on paper.

Day 1 for #artadventcalendar and I thought I’d start with a first for me. This was my very first attempt at crochet. I still have it and I wear it regularly. Unfortunately I have lost the pattern and have no idea what it was called. 2013 (I think) #crochet
Me with very meh hair styling wearing a grey crochet cowl made out of a fine yarn. I hadn’t woven in the end and there’s a small white skill stitch marker attached.

One colour and weave gamp. 8/2 cotton. Fresh off the loom and ready for washing. Next question is cotton, silk, or alpaca for scarves? #handwoven #loomwoven #weaving
Colour and weave gamp - different warp threading of black and white yarn are crossed by those same threadings in weft to make a map of what patterns emerge. In between sections is an orange border

Made use of a spare half hour to get into the actual weaving this afternoon. It’s a basic colour and weave gamp but so lovely to be back at the loom.
A price of weaving showcasing different combinations of black and white thread in both warp and weft - think all on colour warp with 1 black, 1 white thread woven into it then 2 black threads and 1 white thread. Each section of warp and weft pattern has an orange stripe between them

The result - recipe is The Best Homemade Chicken Ramen by the Flavor Bender. It’s good. I went the baked sticky soy chicken route and didn’t have mushrooms so the stock was a touch sweeter than desired. Will absolutely be making it again.
A bowl of ramen featuring a darkish chicken and soy broth, sticky soy chicken thigh, wombok, broccoli, soft boiled egg and rice noodles (the rest of the family get proper ramen noodles).

So far so good, it goes over her heel. The whole household has Covid. So much joy… I’m refusing to get out of bed. I can’t remember the colourway but the yarn is a sock yarn hand dye by Maximoo yarns. #knitting #handknit #handknitsocks

I’ve been working on Baggu Pouch 3 by #BeatricemasDesign recently using #Mithril yarn by #Stansborough that was bought for me as a gift almost 10 years ago. Very excited to have the base and inner shell pinned out to dry. I’m not in a rush to finish this project, it’s been an absolute joy to #knit

Week 4 of #sewandtell - Favourite I made this dress for my friends wedding after realising a few days prior that the weather was going to be way too cold for the chiffon number I originally chose. My first (and fucking only) satin garment and I love it.

The 1st article of kids clothing I ever made for #sewandtell week 1 prompt. Pretty much made best mum ever for this one as far as my little one was concerned. She wore it for three years - I have a tall thin one. Keeps going up but barely changes size anywhere else.
A sleeveless summer dress for my kiddo hanging on the back of a door. Its main fabric is unicorn print on a sort of pink and purple nebula background, with a pale blue unicorn ribbon at the waist and pink lining. All cotton except the ribbon.

Back at the warping board. This one is a slight variation on the #JSTSchoolofWeaving colour and weave gamp. Something light to get me back behind the loom. 8/2 cotton in black, white and light orange. #weaving #warping #janestafford #wip
You can see my warping board (a big wooden rectangle with dowels poking out that you thread your yarn around. Used to measure out the warp and keep a nice even tension) with black and white cotton yarn measured onto it. It’s balanced on a painting easel to keep it at a nice height for me to work on. In the background you can see the tv that my partner is playing mechwarrior on.
