I am absolutely loving analyzing the similarities and differences between The Theorist and The Conductor. 👀

They are personally my favorite kind of Magic card. My pet cEDH deck has as many prerelease cards as possible, and I really enjoy how it helps remind me of how events in my life and the world aligned with Magic over the years while I am playing it. Very bummed about this change.

Today I learned my favorite type of Magic card was suddenly discontinued. Genuinely bummed.

Speaking selfishly, I have been salivating at the concept of playing Zirda in Thrasios/Tymna for years. 🤤

I started playing #cEDH in 2017. It was just three friends at the LGS watching Lab Man videos. In 2019, at CF Chicago I was repeatedly grimaced at when I said I was looking for cEDH games. This weekend, I organized a 31-person cEDH meetup at the LGS. I am so proud to see the community grow.

Learning to mulligan more aggressively was a huge level-up moment for me (shout out to the cEDH Cast's Greedy Keeps segments back in the day). Literally every time I mulligan, I repeat the maxim "A good 5 beats a mid 7."

The symmetry of the effect though just makes me think someone is going to immediately win over top as soon as this resolves.

I am all-for having a set that doesn't have large impacts on cEDH. I am okay not having shakeups every couple months. That said, I was really excited about this set for the aesthetic, setting, and vibe. And having a whole set where I love everything about it EXCEPT the cards mechanically is rough.

yea, you should 100% target that. Ok cool, no responses? It resolves? My turn?

A PSA in case it gets unbanned tomorrow, Gifts Ungiven is a "One-card Wincon" in Thrasios & Tymna by double entombing for Devoted Druid and Nature's Rhythm. Granted, it is mana-intensive to Harmonize for Hazel's Brewmaster, but you can cast Gifts end step before your turn to get a fresh untap. 🤷‍♂️

I do love me a one-card win con, but between this, Finale of Devastation, and Chord of Calling, I am wondering how many of these effects I can actually afford to run. #cEDH

Wizards heard us complaining about "Midrange Hell", "The Draw Meta", and and "not being able to close out games" and decided to print a land that makes spells uncounterable and another Silence creature to encourage us to send it. 👀 #cEDH

Decided to drop $20 on packs to get the ball rolling on Triumphant Light packs, and this is how I was rewarded. Praise be to our beneficent Lord Arceus.

And with this, Thrasios & Tymna is as foiled as it can be. The deck has been a part of me since 2016, and it is wild to see how much it and I have changed since then.

Despite a lot bad things happening over the last few days, I did acquire something I never thought possible. I had assumed this would always be unattainable for me, but I saw an opportunity, and fortunately it paid off.

Free idea for any Wizards employees: we need a Devoted Druid body horror Secret Lair where it is Devoted Druid, Swift Reconfiguration, Hazel's Brewmaster, and Machine God's Effigy with art all based around turning Devoted Druid into various vehicles and food. 🙏

I have been a Thrasios/Tymna main since 2016. I am so low on these cards right now, and I have been having WAY more success without them by just proactively and repeatedly pushing wins. Others' results may vary, but I have not missed them post-bans.

I don't typically build casual decks, preferring to play either cEDH or unmodified precons. However, with the Marvel cards that wasn't an option, so here was my attempt at a casual Iron Man build. Sure enough, I became public enemy #1 and then 1v3'd the table. 😎 www.moxfield.com/decks/cQPx9M...

I am no Thras/Rog expert, but an instant speed infinite mana combo seems like it would slot well in there. The only reason I am hesitant is that it would require infinite casts to go infinite. But let me know how it tests for you! 🙂

Tanner, Thras' Oracle @thrasoracle.bsky.social · 24/10/2024

With Floodcaller, casting a noncreature will untap any Otters/Birds, including itself. So if you have a non-summoning sick one of those creatures (including itself), you could target it with Helix. Tap it to bounce a mana-positive rock, recast the rock to untap Floodcaller, and repeat for infinite.

Tanner, Thras' Oracle @thrasoracle.bsky.social · 23/10/2024

Might be too cute, but given your love of Lorwyn, you might like Banishing Knack (and Retraction Helix). If you have a Valley Floodcaller, either of the above cards, and any mana-positive rock, you can generate infinite mana at instant-speed. Or you bounce multiple targets with all your untapping.

Still undergoing fine-tuning, but my Thras/Tymna build has been feasting since the bans. Might be some sacrilegious choices here (No Seedborn/Consult), but the goal is to quickly go infinite, and if disrupted, pivot to a different combo turn-after-turn. www.moxfield.com/decks/7of1Ke...
