Vacillating between "just play broodscale stupid" and "what if I am gods favorite prowess player"

Ive been rewatching old Naruto and genuinely? I think this comic had some serious gas on its fire through the first 3-4 arcs, its too had what happened to it later

All love to my friends playing the arena directs but these events look like they'd flay my brain alive

I agree with this in the macro scale, but I do think that killing 3 of the snowballiest 1/2 drops of the format was good for the format. I think this general "lets just shake it up" strategy sends a bad message to players though.

I deeply need to find like a good fantasy book reading community

000

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

Slick direction and animation can't really help the fact that 80% of the cast feels as wooden as popsicle sticks though

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

I find the endless "oh this is gonna be great in my x cmdr deck" reactions irritating but I also recognize that that reaction is the foundation of what makes tcgs good and is truer to the experience than anyone rating a card for competitive viability

For the first time, i actually finished a first draft of a cube and didnt hate the look of it

I saw a clip of Ted Lasso today and I cant believe People were telling me to watch this show. This is like a Lifetime movie

The edge on the right is a little roughed up on the Force. I bet its rhe same thing with the top edge of the polyraptor here haha. I think most people who are playing magic are super permissive on grading bc if its sleeve playable we're good lol

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

For a few weeks I think. The best card to play it with (boomerang basics) is also the best card at killing the token it comes with, so that's a pretty rough tension

000

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Planisphere kinda does, and makes a body too. I wish these cards had a constructed home bc theyre just a little too clunky for anything other than limited environments rn

Final "for fun" draft was a 100 ornithopters draft for a couple of rounds. I played a boring counters deck and had a ball.

000

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Draft 2 was @theintegers.bsky.social 's graveyard cube. This is one of my favorite cubes and the new strixhaven additions were lots of fun. 2-1, lost to the 3-0 lol. I swapped yawg out a lot for Altar of Dementia.

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Draft 1 was @heretic-cathar.bsky.social 's tempo cube. My favorite kind of magic, tight games with cheap threats and good interaction. I don't think I drafted well though, 2-1, lost to the 3-0

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

Had a good time at the Cincinnati cube event last weekend. Drafted cave eldrazi in the Carlsbad desert cube (2-1, lost to the 3-0 drafter) and drafted Eldrazi in The Chrome Wars (1-2, got my lunch ate during draft, but totally loved this cube). Excited for another all-day event here in cbus saturday

I remember getting set up as Argentina in a megagame last year and being like oh I should look up argentina's history so I can role-play correctly. Then I decided it was not worth to role play correctly

I think theres several things that lean HARD on original trigun to land, but im super happy with it overall

011

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

Trigun stampede/stargaze is really good. Feels like they sanded off a lot of the stuff that didn't work or didn't age well from the source material, added a lot more texture to several characters, and is gorgeously directed (especially s1). Probably the best trigun thing period

Josh @thoughtseize.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Loki is a very strong card so I'll be watching this space. How has this felt vs the selesnya offense deck?

Interested in seeing how the PT impacts the modern metagame. Since a modern deck won't "win" the PT i imagine there might actually be lower impact than usual

Its a completely different vibe from SAC and the Oshii movies but I dig it a lot. It's visually gorgeous too.
