is it sacrilegious to like GPT 5.6 Sol better than Opus 5? Sol is so much better than Opus for ultra long context chats with lots of cross-domain synthesis not to mention effectively infinite turns with ChatGPT Plus vs like 5-10 turns/5 hours on Claude Pro

Feb 1 call wasn’t a 'lab leak confession' – scientists saw a novel genome w unusual furin cleavage site, kept viral engineering as possible, then favored zoonotic origin as evidence accumulated... that’s normal science FCSs have arisen & disappeared naturally; no direct evidence of sars2 lab leak

what I think Fauci should *actually* be criticized for: - obscuring how dire the situation actually was - aerosol transmission, not just droplets - N95 respirators needed, not 'face coverings' - far more than 6ft social distancing needed - childhood vulnerability from alpha variant & beyond

very confused why people think Fauci's diary is evidence for a lab leak...? wet market was the *proximal* origin, the actual source would be: 1) sars2-infected wildlife hunting grounds 2) human-wildlife interaction upstream of the wet market this is fully consistent with zoonotic origin

capitalism has been shown to manipulate quantum fields and the stress-energy tensor through veneration of market forces
120
shadow of the void @thots.bsky.social · 07/07/2026
capitalism's extraordinary strength lies in its ability to manipulate the fabric of the universe to align with market expectations for example, if the market expects a refinery tank to be filled, hydrocarbons will pop into existence via quantum fluctuations

the heat index in Minneapolis yesterday was 110°F/43°C... I absolutely cherished my heat pump providing me with ultra-efficient cooling Europe should invest in inverter heat pumps for heating *and* cooling... don't understand why Euro heat pump installs are often heating only

European resistance to AC befuddles me... yes, install as much green passive cooling as possible, but with 40°C+ temps set to become common, you're going to need AC no matter what. It's shameful that Euro heat deaths exceed US gun deaths

anyone else notice that claude opus 4.8 token limits have gotten ultra stingy since the Fable 5 ban? can barely get like 4 turns out of a long chat (no code) without running into limits... I'm imagining claude code is pretty much unusable on the pro plan now?

shadow of the void @thots.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
fix the hypersensitive safety classifiers pls @anthropic.com... especially if we have to pay extra for fable

shadow of the void @thots.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
the biggest drawback: waaaay oversensitive safety checks I can't use fable in my field (neuroscience) since biology-related topics are forbidden due to "safety issues" it can't read my dissertation despite it being the most benign basic science ever

shadow of the void @thots.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
fable seems to reference more topics/sources in its analyses & seems better at drawing connections between disparate but interrelated topics for writing, mythos is denser & more succinct, also less sycophantic & more critical again, ime ymmv
100
shadow of the void @thots.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
annoying how claude fable (mythos) testing is almost all code-based... an issue with LLM testing in general how about geopolitical analysis? synthesis of scientific literature? academic writing? fable has small but noticeable improvements in all 3 compared to opus 4.8 ime ymmv
