This is probably a good idea, I have been told off in therapy for always going an all-or-nothing approach

Me: idk if I need to medicated my adhd, I've been fine for 35 years without it. Me being "fine" at work: opening and closing docs without reading them. Reading 2 sentences and looking at my phone. Putting my phone down and staring into space. Jiggling both legs nonstop.

010

lily thorne | writing again @thornofthelily.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Literally nothing to do at work today other than wait for other people to decide the wording of like 3 sentences and sign a form. I should have "worked from home" so I could finish watching hotd

I call my fics things like "bad day bdsm," "fishkira," "the 5some fic," etc.

120

lily thorne | writing again @thornofthelily.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Do my other fanfic writers out there, when talking about your works, usually use the titled name of your fic? I find I usually give it a nickname, like whatever my working title or Google doc title of it was rather the full or partial title itself

So cool when your kids are old enough to play video games with you but also puts me in the bizarre position of saying things like "if you keep griefing me you're grounded"

Really enjoy watching frieren until one of its many grief motifs triggers a spontaneous cry session lol god I have such a headache

And even if you somehow got them back, the world would still feel wrong. So much changed after they passed that bringing them back is as incomprehensible as imagining what your life would have been without them

030

lily thorne | writing again @thornofthelily.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Yes this is still about akeshu I promise. Like how akiren can never be sure if third semester Akechi is the real person brought back to life or a facsimile based on his memories and his wishes.

120

lily thorne | writing again @thornofthelily.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

they were ever really there. Do people remember the same things as you? Oh and the memories. What is actually the truth and what is just a flawed half-remembered version. They only exist in a memory and your cognition will distort that memory from how they truly were.

130

lily thorne | writing again @thornofthelily.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Like yeah that's obvious but also the dilemma of what is true or not. I just really get that feeling. Even if the time you spent with that person is real and actually happened and you remember it so clearly it feels so unreal when they're gone. Life moves on without them and you wonder if

130

lily thorne | writing again @thornofthelily.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Six years ago I didn't properly appreciate the metaphor of Maruki's reality and the role it served in the story because yeah I get it now, man. Waking up in a horrible new world where the person you love is dead and the time you spent with them feeling like an imagined dream! Sucks but I get it now!

Saw a comparison once that was like, someone asked "when consuming media do you imagine yourself as one of the characters or imagine yourself in that world?" And someone responded "neither, I'm the camera recording it all"

There are some fic writers where, when they move on to a new fandom and write fics for something I don't know, I genuinely am tempted to get into that new things just to read their fics. Because I love their writing that much
