it’s kinda funny looking back and seeing that a lot of people’s evidence for yoshida’s moral grayness in his actions boiled down to “he smiled creepily in a situation where i felt he shouldn’t”

not once has denji even asked to speak to asa. no “change back to her”, no concern about how these murders are bringing her to the mental collapse that Yoru claimed. he just doesn’t care. he’s actively grieving and numb but part of that is not having the emotional energy to care for her.

the reaction to this chapter being “asa just needs to take over and set things straight” or that she’ll “step up and cockblock him” just solidifies that asa is widely seen as merely a narrative reward, object of pacification and morality touchstone for denji.

#csm192 "as long as there's food and girls I'll be happy", he tells himself. he wants to believe it's true, even though it's so clearly not. how much pressure can that flimsy belief take before it snaps, and denji along with it

#csm192 i can't imagine how fucking horrified asa must be right now. she's having everything taken from her. her body, her desires, her efforts to save denji, and, well. fuck. it looks like it's going to get even worse for her. actually kinda sickening

All good possibilities, but i have to add one more that i think is the most narratively juicy- yoru’s arm straight up explodes.

You, you can call me crazy. But talking to my friend we realized a detail, you can refute it. The weird way Denji repeats "the palm of your hand" and Yoshida appears in the next panel >
