During the time I was away, algae developped (not a lot but more than than before), the population of worms developped strongly and the very high population of copepods disappeared. Wondering what tipped the balance in the #aquarium but I can't say I'm thrilled with the tradeoff.

Today was aquarium trimming day. It had been a few weeks and the plants had grown a lot. We also took out the drowned floaters (decomposing leaves) which were not looking good. The tank is full of food cause we're still ghost feeding, but I like the way it looks otherwise! #aquarium #aquascape

This week, we realised that we probably didn't add ammonia consistently enough to get the cycling going (couldn't tell cause we didn't have test kit yet). So we're a bit late in our cycling but it allowed the plants to grow and may help prevent a huge algae bloom when the nitrate ramp up.

First water testing for the #shrimptank was quite a lot of work! We're 3 weeks in and our amonia is either 0 or really close to it, nitrites are at 0, nitrates are very low (too low?). Could our #aquarium be already cycled!?

Only issue so far, beside the still not waterlogged wood, are the red root floaters. The flow seems always too high and they keep drowning and flipping. Like, did they forget they meant to float? Anyone got advices for this? #aquascaping #aquarium #aquascape #shrimptank

Next episode on the #plantedtank saga. We attached the wood to a stone (the string is a bit visible but I'll get over it) so that it stays down until it's waterlogged. We re-did the whole scaping (to fit this big ass rock) and added the floating plants. It's still cloudy but it's getting there.
