Whenever I’m facing issues with vscode and prettier talking seconds or copy pasting taking too long, Zed is my go to. Very reliable and smooth

Where’s all the hype of bsky about openai’s image generation? It’s really really good and not a peep! Everybody is sharing studio ghibli images of themselves on twitter, creative ads too

A step in the right direction. Unfortunate that Vite is painted as “not for beginners”. Also, the ordering of frameworks matters and this makes Next.js effectively the default for anyone learning React.

Someone asked me a while ago how I host my Vite React app on Cloudflare Workers & static assets. So I wrote a guide on my blog about how to do just that (and Angular and Vue for good measure!) thomasgauvin.com/writing/how-...

We finished rolling out edge caching for Hyperdrive earlier this month - cached queries are now up to 10x faster. This is reflected in an average 50% decrease in session duration for *all queries*! ⚡️ just landed it in the new Cloudflare changelog: developers.cloudflare.com/changelog-ne...

We made it a lot easier to connect to private databases from Cloudflare Hyperdrive using Tunnels, so you can build full stack apps on Workers with your existing databases! developers.cloudflare.com/changelog-ne... Demo doesn’t fit in 60 seconds, but it does fit in 2 minutes! x.com/thomasgauvin...

We just raised the Workers KV namespace limits for all Cloudflare accounts, from 200 to 1000 Folks had been running into those limits, especially teams building multi-tenant applications who split KV data by tenant. That’s now a thing of the past! developers.cloudflare.com/changelog-ne...

Great writeup I think the chart of responsibility for career development is intriguing I’ve always thought of the manager as more of someone who can support/enable/shed light on career growth, but they aren’t the ones to drive it. That’s on the IC, and that’s the biggest chunk of career growth
Blue, the IC’s responsibility for their career growth, grows over time, compared to green, the responsibility of the manager for their IC report’s career growth

The new developments in LLM models is super exciting. Open-source models, from Llama to DeepSeek are pushing the envelope and making it better/faster/cheaper for developers to build their apps

But to get what you’re actually looking for, copilot et al need to add ways to hook into “updated knowledge feeds” that get added to the system prompt That’s sort of what I meant by “this needs to exist at the client level”
000
Thomas Gauvin @thomasgauvin.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
Ahh yeah that’s tricky. I find copilot et al are decently good at following existing patterns in the codebase (elsewhere in the file/project). Perhaps the right starter project w/ comments can help in terms of what’s doable now.

I find that they prevent flow when coding. The “context loading” phase is skipped. Life without flow is one of such great “dangers”
