Meanwhile, I read a bit about the plot of Star Trek: Picard and ran away screaming. As far as I’m concerned Trek died when DS9 ended.

Finally deleted the Instagram app from my phone. Just too much depraved shit on there these days. Down to only Bsky and Mastodon. And let’s be honest, we all know it’s only a matter of time before this place goes the same way due to the relentless search for the almighty dollar.

To be clear I don’t think the iPhone Duo will flop because it’s a bad product. On the contrary, it’s probably really good. I just don’t think there are many people who want to deal with folding and unfolding their phone.

I’m usually not all that into the music Apple plays before one of its event videos, but this mix kinda slaps

To say I was surprised about it is an understatement — my initial plan was to keep it off the network entirely as I’d primarily picked it due to the combination of OLED panel and good image processing.

This is one of the reasons why we bought a Sony TV. It runs Google’s TV OS, and apparently OEMs are given latitude in how integrated it is. In addition to letting you opt out of everything during setup, there’s also a “disable smart features” setting. If only everything had that option!

Going to VCF Midwest next week? While I'm unable to go, a portion of my vintage computing and game console collection will be! My good friend Steve will be hosting these items for sale at his table (C216/C217), so be sure to go say hi and check them out!

Map of the convention floor showing the location of Steve's tables. He's got awesome stuff of his own for sale too! The tables are kitty-corner from Mac84 so go harass him after buying some of my stuff lol

Does anyone out there have a copy of Bob Brant’s book Upgrade Your Macintosh and Save a Bundle? (Note that this is different than the Build book!) I got a former library copy that came without its slipcover, hoping someone is able to scan it! There are NO images of the cover on the Internet.

Guarantee at least 3-4 people will be like bro there’s a scanned copy on the Internet. This is a completely different book than that Cat Mac one!

I hate how ephemeral the Internet has become. Now it’s starting to affect music. I spent an hour trying to find a place to legally buy a download of an album from 2015, and the only places left are the iTunes Store and Amazon. Nobody has it in lossless, unless I wanna buy a used CD copy from Japan.

Not only was the Supreme Court's Callais decision cynical and wrong, it has now resulted in the Republican governor of Louisiana declaring state of emergency to cancel the ongoing congressional election. If you think this ends in Louisiana or with redistricting, you are not paying attention.
