This is #permacomputing as well, at least for me. I organised a brief informal visit to the "Referenzgerätesammlung" at the Academy of the Arts in Bern. It's a large collection of media infrastructure, from oscilloscopes to TI/99-4A and pastel-coloured Macs […] [Original post on post.lurk.org]
Rare photo of myself, in between high racks stacked to the brink with old media and computing hardware. I seem very happy about the manifested media history, and its messiness. The wonderful Martina Haidvogl (Co-Head Conservation of Modern Materials & Media, Bern), Max Frischknecht (Lead Critical Knowledge Design, Bern), and Rilla Khaled (Director of the Technoculture, Art and Games Research Centre, Montréal) standing in front of a wall of a variety of television and computer screens. The screen are probably as old as the 1960s up until the 1990s.

It's always a good moment to rise up. codeberg.org/thgie/insorgiamo-stick… Wasn't able to find any source material back when I made this, so it's handcrafted :unwanted_cry: #Autistici #Insorgiamo
Large and bold industrial style letters, white on red. It says "insorgiamo", which is Italian for "let's rise up".

@jonny I'm ready for container ship idol worshipping.
Hand holding up a wooden toy in the form of a container ship. The containers are little wooden blocks that can be stacked on the ship. The ship's control tower is also a movable block. A print on the side of the ship says "CMA CGM Jules Vernes" and some of the containers say "CMA CGM" or "Vilac".

My toad-averse partner thinks this is a cute photo, so here you go. Also, what are proper fediverse toad hashtags? I go and check for toads every night so my partner knows how much she likes to stay inside and today's count is one. #Toad
Close-up of a toad, sitting in dry gras during the night. Unsure how to react to the sudden light, the toad rests and observes the situatiom.

It's good to have a brief break, away from everything, after an intense time on screen and with code. There are kites, kestrel, deer, and foxes. I have heard a plethora of other birds as well, let alone seen dozens of different insects. Became friends with the […] [Original post on post.lurk.org]
The sky during the blue hour. Some scattered and fragmented clouds are colored from the last rays of a sun already set. Feels calm, feels summery.A toad, sitting still in the dry gras. Portrait photo, very close. The toad sits patient, waiting for us to be finished with this spectacle.A tent, dimmly illuminated from the inside, during dark night. The far back has some equally dimmly lit clouds scattering the sky. An outline of leaves and branches frames the top of the photo.Dry gras in front bordered off by an old, old, old stonewall, made of simply piling stones that were laying around. Large patches of moss cover the wall. In the distance pine trees and open sky. Summer.

Where's my LoRa folks at? Unsure if the device is of much use for meshing, but I loved the Cardputer's design and it's a great tinkering platform. #Meshtastic #Meshcore #LoRa #Cardputer #esp32
Hand holding a Cardputer Mesh, a small esp32 based computer that can message on the long-range frequencies. It's really small...

I have two micro:bits (v1), a calliope mini (v1), and a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ to donate to any project that could make good use of these. Let me know!

No. Yes.
Sluggo, from the newspaper comic Nancy by Ernie Bushmiller is hovering mid-air. But relaxed and laidback, smilling and saying "No". As if defying gravity itself.Illustration by Edward Gorey. Three people stare with pale expression, walk in between two eerie trees, watched solely by the darkened moon. The word "Yes" is written under the illustration.
