I hate it when games do that. I'd rather get everything a game has to offer in one playthrough. It took me several years to get back to Chrono Trigger for all the endings.

Yeah, when the mosquitoes get bad at night, I also hide under the covers. Getting rid of any standing water in and around the house can be a good preventative measure. Make sure there aren't any pots full of water in the sink or pots outside full of rainwater. Stuff like that.
