If you're in Hamilton, come out to my third Trinket Trance Presents showcase tomorrow night at The Bright Room! It's a completely stacked bill of amazing bands and I'm handling drum duties in Ula Lume (it'll be our last local show of 2025).

I've got my second Trinket Trance Presents show happening on August 15th with three excellent femme-forward indie rock acts! Very excited to see Small Orbit again and Jocelyn June & The Bugs for the first time. Jump Coven have been rehearsing our butts off to get something special ready for you all.

Rachel Rising is one of my all-time favourite comic book stories. Thanks for all of the humanity, humour and horror you invest in your work!

Thanks for this really thoughtful review, @fringesofsound.bsky.social! I was actually trying to convince myself to not add any drum/percussion elements to this album the whole time, but the drummer in me lost that battle lol.

Thanks so much for including me among all those great artists, Simon! I clearly need to check in here more often (hence the delayed share).

My Trinket Trance Top 50 playlist has migrated over to YouTube, where smaller artists still receive a measure of revenue for their efforts (however paltry, something is better than nothing). Check it out for the best music happening right now in any genre! www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

CDs are still the most interesting and enjoyable physical medium for music that I've experienced. There are things you can do with CDs as an artist that aren't possible with vinyl or digital albums.

That's exciting! Keep me posted on anything coming out. I'm eager to hear it and spread the word :)

Do you have more songs coming out this year? I'm not familiar with Wyatt C. Louis, but I'll put them on my list of artists to check out, thanks!

Getting into music supervision for TV/Film would be a dream job for me (other than getting consistent work as a composer). I love Northern Roots! Beautiful songwriting and great production & arranging - those drums are tasty! Would love to hear other artist recommendations any time as well!

If you're in the Hamilton area and around on Saturday night, come out to see me exercise some new parent demons on the drum kit for @waxmannequin.bsky.social! Friendly faces and strangers equally welcome.

Thanks! Feel free to send me music to check out any time. I've got some other playlists I'll be sharing, including some Canadian lists not tied to a specific year.

I'm better at sharing other people's music than I am at promoting my own. To that point, here's an ongoing playlist of my favourite Canadian Indie Music released in 2024. Suggestions are always welcomed and encouraged. Our country is so rich in talent. open.spotify.com/playlist/2Lf...

Boundaries only exist as tools for description, as the language of historical consensus. Music can be, and IS anything sonic shaped with intent by an author. Structures needed to be invented to exist in the first place and need to be reinvented to evolve with the minds that arrange them.

If you make playlists, please share them with me - I'm always looking for recommendations and can't help but obsess over hearing as much new music as possible. And it's always fascinating to absorb the tastes of other friendly music lovers.
