Smaug wanted hugs. What could possibly go wrong? Don’t worry, he’s under constant supervision with the cats. They get a little too curious with him.

Poor bedraggled bee. It’s been raining or misting here for a while. As I walked to my shop, I noticed one of our shrubs - each group of flowers had a single bee perched on it. Their fuzz is all wet and clumped. Hopefully they’ll feel better after the sun comes out again.
A wet bumblebee hunkered down on pink flowers.

I love it when you can see the pattern right away! Trim for a plain sweatshirt. Alternating twists between 2, 3, and 4 segments (depending how many times I repeat the middle pattern). Lunatic Fringe yarns. #tabletweaving #weaving #fiberarts

The Monster Loom (v. 1.0) is up and running. Bracing along the base reduced the wiggle. Future versions will have the tension pegs moved to the 1st & 3rd leg, instead of the middle leg and neck. Currently warped with 254” of shoelaces. Can hold a warp of ~576” (or 48’… or 16yd), which is crazy.

The new Pokemon cards work great! I have Schacht cards, which are $15 for 25 cards (3.5”), but they tend to feel too big when you’re turning a bunch of them. Or… I can buy 400 game cards for $15, trim them square and add holes, and they’re 2.5” square - a perfect fit.

Had tree branches fall in the yard, and wanted to upcycle them into something. I love how nuthatches are such crazy gymnasts (check out their hallux claws!) - worked up a flat plane birb, and affixed it to the branch with a dowel. Add a magnet and bingo! New fridge buddy. #woodcarving #bird

More weaving! Shop still in progress - I’ll get back to woodworking soon, I promise. The purple band is a “nonsense” band. No specific pattern other than when you move “forwards” you produce an M, and “backwards” makes a W. The change between gives you 2-3 dots, depending when you switch.

The fire fox, "tulikettu", is from Finnish mythology. Its fur is pitch black, but it shines in the right lighting conditions and sparks in mysterious light when you touch it. Those sparks would fly to the sky and create the northern lights when its tail or sides hit the snow or branches as it ran.
