Potentially cool news and all but I take issue with them saying they’re not using AI for “all the creative aspects of game development.” ALL aspects of game development are creative; even the stuff you don’t think is creative actually is. In other words them using AI *at all* is immoral.

I don’t care at all about NBA 2K but a single player campaign becoming unplayable after a server shutdown is a straight up crime. Like even Call of Duty has never done something that vile.

It’s as if Capcom decided they had too many wins lately and figured they might as well fuck it all up. And yeah, while they say AI generated assets won’t appear in final releases, it’s still stolen work that’s destroying the environment (and it’ll *absolutely* appear in final products anyway)

It feels like it’s doing an imitation of older, better games, rather than striving to either refine the Castlevania formula OR carve itself a new identity. Tbh would’ve liked to see them take the ‘Vania formula to new heights in the way, say, Metroid Dread did.

Castlevania Belmont’s Curse demo was cool and played okay (it’s quite slower and floatier than I would like), but also it’s frustratingly identical to 1000s of indies that do what it does, only better. It doesn’t do enough to set itself apart. Feels more like it’s good *enough* rather than great.
