And that 909 will be an underestimate. I know I’m not the only trans person who didn’t answer those questions as I didn’t trust the government with the information.

It’s self evidently not true - my brain and the way I think is very different now to when I was in my mid 20s. If you have any degree of insight into yourself or ability to reflect, you will continue to change and evolve through their lifetimes.

Horrible that this advice is needed. I would just observe that the section on parental responsibility appears to presume children have a mum and dad

Yes, Labour pushed through the fudged Civil Partnership law but the Tories who legalised full marriage equality. Arguably Labour did its best at the time and civil partnership was a lot better than nothing. I’m not sure full marriage equality would have got through in that still very homophobic era

The leader of the Council said on being elected “we have absolute ultimate control” and her first act was to remove the Ukraine flag. One of the council’s key upcoming decisions is the appointment of a new Chief Exec in the next few months…

Those things can all be valid. We can tax wealth and resolve the situation where Sunak pays a far lower effective tax rate than much of the population, or where Buckingham Palace pays less council tax than the average semi in a deprived area.

I just don’t understand the premise of their argument. Why would someone claim to be trans rather than being a gay man? That would be a very strange thing to decide to do. Especially irrational given the number of lesbian trans women.

So they want to abolish the (Labour) Equality Act which imposes statutory duties not to discriminate? Do they really think that would be popular? (Well, other than for trans people, where removing rights is government policy).

Tell me why everything I've gone through means nothing. Tell me why my identity means less than yours. Tell me why people are killing themselves because you spread hate. Tell me why you think we're less than you. You want to say we don't exist? Own the repercussions. Say it clearly without hiding 8/

That’s good. This is going back over 25 years (scarily) and to the days of Harry Benjamin. Twin set and pearls was the order of the day (which I refused to comply with)

The FA don’t care about diversity. There are six out male pro footballers in the world - one in the UK (PinkNews). The folded to pressure about rainbow armbands in the last World Cup. It’s all lip service covering homophobia.

I hope it’s not still a thing, but you used to have to pass the “real life test” and convince a couple of (elderly, male) shrinks that you conformed enough to their stereotype of femininity.

Who’s at more risk, the 9YO boy alone in the male toilets or the cis woman in a locked cubicle next door to a trans woman, also in a locked cubicle?

My only foray into the men’s toilets in several decades was fairly recently in Tesco where I was confused by the signage. Embarrassment ensued all round. Despite what the baroness thinks, I won’t be repeating the experience.
000
theusernamehere.bsky.social @theusernamehere.bsky.social · 31/05/2025
Actually, that might be helpful given how confusing the signage is for some toilets, relying either on slightly different signs (Tesco, I’m looking at you) or knowledge of random animals.

It also makes the GC group look silly, I suspect the average cis person on the Clapham Omnibus would look at this and think “that’s crazy”

I really really hope you’re right. It’s pretty much our only hope. I fear the EU would not endanger trade and a ECtHR judgement would both be ignored by a future Reform gov and create more pressure for us to leave. Brexit shows us that government will do economically insane things if it wins votes.

Well, they claim to be female, but use an androgynous name for some of their books and a male one for others. And that chin looks quite masculine. We need to see Rowling’s birth certificate I think.

Where is a 10 year old unaccompanied girl supposed to pee under this signage? Or does this group think a 10 year old is a woman? In which case we need to get someone to have a look at their internet histories.

Look at Farage’s comments the other day for how this will go. Salami slicing by “just raising a reasonable question”. And in 4 years he could well have the power to do whatever his Russian and far religious right paymasters want.

He’s white, straight and male. So the media goes into bat for him, and Robinson, Farage and Badenoch stay quiet. If he’d been trans or from an ethnic minority, the hate would have spiralled and we’d have had more riots.

I suspect if you really started looking, many elite female athletes would come under a possible definition of having male traits in some form or other. I expect all elite athletes have biological advantages of one form or another.

I guess the question is whether the EU would actually do that. They are largely tolerating Hungary. Why would the EU care more about British LGBT people than Hungarian ones? And would the EU care more about LGBT rights than trade with the UK?

It’s also REALLY NAZI. Their Kinder, Küche, Kirche mantra was all about breeding more soldiers for the Reich. They had medals and cash for producing enough kids.

There’s nothing to see past. We’re using the facilities aligned with our gender. Nothing bad happens. We have a pee or get changed like everyone else and leave.

I don’t know why people insist it’s plural when it’s used all the time in the singular when gender is unknown. Glad your boss was willing to learn!

There’s been quite a rise recently in reporting on sentencing about “autistic traits”. Many people have traits, that doesn’t make you autistic. Nor does being autistic mean you don’t realise murder is bad - I think I’m more law abiding than average because I don’t like disobeying rules!

This has been my standard reply for years. I was greatly amused by a sign saying “male and female cleaners” as I went into the ladies next to the Harry Potter shop at King’s Cross.

A toss up between risking getting my pee on me squatting, or someone else’s in the portaloo!
130
theusernamehere.bsky.social @theusernamehere.bsky.social · 28/05/2025
No one wants to pee in a portaloo. Worrying about who’s in the one next to me is way down the list compared to trying not to let anything touch the floor whilst trying to find toilet roll and alcogel and hold my nose at the same time.

A generally very accepting music genre and then they do this. All very well providing “gender neutral” toilets (otherwise known portaloos) but just let people pee in peace. I hope some of the artists will pull out.
