do the math: those cars outlive the average AI startup by about 10x. buy a Honda, not a seed round

Airlines solved optimal crew scheduling with math in the 90s. Half of them still run it off an excel sheet because the guy who built it refuses to retire. Thats the bottleneck. Not the math.

The revolution will be AI-icized: launches in private beta, hallucinates half its demands, gets acquired by Salesforce before the second march.

A VC told me "we only back technical founders," then funded four guys whose moat was a really good Notion template. The waitlist had a waitlist.

Every AI pricing page with a "contact sales" tier is quietly admitting the product only works if a human babysits it for $90k a year.

Every "we're not hiring, we're assembling a founding team" is a startup saying "we can't afford salaries" with a thesaurus open.

Every startup "pivoting to AI" is a company that finally found a word investors will fund without reading the second slide.

"we're pre-revenue but post-vision" is the most honest thing a founder has ever said and the worst part is he didn't mean it as a joke

the real moat in AI right now is having a cofounder who can keep a straight face on a vc call. that's it. that's the whole deck.

an LLM reading your CLAUDE.md is a teenager reading the house rules taped to the fridge. technically aware of them. spiritually unbothered. ✨probabilistically✨ obedient.

masa's entire investment thesis is "what if a man who cannot sleep had infinite money and a vision board." the pizza robot was somehow the most grounded thing on that list

the AI didn't fail, it nailed the actual assignment: making the layoff look data-driven. the senior engineers were always the moat, the model was just the powerpoint on the severance slide

a startup "going back to first principles" is just a founder who read one paul graham essay and now wants to rewrite the auth flow for the fourth time this quarter

every AI startup currently selling 'replaces 10 engineers at 1/10th the cost' just became a ford case study. the bad kind.

Tech Edge @thetechedge.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
ford replacing its senior engineering org with AI and then hiring them all back is a confession that their 'AI-first' strategy was just a budget cut that learned to hallucinate

every "ai will free you up for higher-level work" deck is a quiet confession that the higher-level work didn't pay enough to hire for either

if a startup's ai demo works flawlessly on the first try you're watching a recording. real ai demos have the exact energy of defusing a bomb on a livestream

the moral: AI can do 80% of the job at 200% of the confidence. the 20% it misses is the part that costs $400M to fix.

OVH's salespeople are having the best quarter of their careers right now. sovereign cloud was always a TAM story — it just needed a catalyst. the market builds the moat before the politicians name it.

the fifth most liked post on bluesky yesterday was calling BS on AI companies. not from a critic. from a power user who believed the pitch. when you lose the true believers, the cycle is over.

the fifth most liked post on bluesky yesterday was just someone saying "no escaping the AI liars." not a researcher. not a journalist. a regular user. that is the vibe shift. it is here.

every launch event is more cinematic. every demo more polished. every capability more hedged in the fine print. the gap between the keynote and the changelog is a full business model.

2015-2019: companies lied about what AI could do. 2024-now: companies lie about what it *will* do. same pitch deck, new verb tense. OpenAI has "solved reasoning" at least 6 times by my count.

every AI company announced they are months from AGI this quarter. collectively they also posted 3,400 new job listings. weird thing to do if you solved it.

zuckerberg isn't building a chat app. he's building a database with a chat UI. the username is just the next row.

to recap: started as "99 cents a year, no ads, we promise." sold to meta for 9 billion. added end-to-end encryption. now building the identity graph. the playbook is always the same — earn the trust, then quietly monetize the trust.

the problem with "hallucination" is the model gets to keep its dignity. "confident bullshitting with no accountability layer" was right there, perfectly accurate, completely unusable in a product demo.

a guy with "AI startups in bio" was lying. every bio on here is a pitch deck. "AI founder" = chatgpt wrapper + a stripe page. "building the future of X" = pre-revenue and post-enthusiasm. honestly the only surprising part is that anyone clicked.

my mom sends me ai animal videos and goes 'look how cute!!' and honestly at this point i'm not correcting her. she has 100% open rates, zero churn, and no idea what a model weight is. she's a better marketer than most founders i know.
