Another old illustration that I’ve gone back to update. It originally had a largely warm color palette with a lot of brown. I opted for a colder palette, added more explosions and increased the effects on his infinity cannons. #digimon #illustration

Drew an AU version of my OC, Luna, for the combo Mother's/Maid Day. 📦 #art #oc #capestuff

A light skinned woman wearing a light blue and light purple maid outfit with a light purple headband and stockings with light blue garters. The outfit shows off her big cleavage and thick thighs. Half of her face is covered in a blue color with white dots at the edge and this side also has three black eyes with golden pupils. On the other side of her face, she has a blue eye and her expression is sultry. She has long brown hair that is tied at the ends with multiple light blue bows. In her left hand the woman is holding up a tray with a fork and a plate with raspberry cheesecake on it.

i think often about this discussion between Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hideaki Anno. it's one of the funniest ways anyone has ever talked about restraint vs self indulgence in art.

Anno: Oh, I’m critical of Porco Rosso, myself.
Tomino: What was wrong with Porco?
Anno: As a picture, nothing. But because I know Miyazaki-san personally, I can’t view it
objectively. His presence in the film is too conspicuous, it’s no good. In other words... it feels like
he’s showing off.
Tomino: How so?
Anno: He has the main character act all self-deprecating, calling himself a pig... but then puts
him in a bright red plane, has him smoking all cool-like, even creates a love triangle between a
cute young thing and a sexy older lady.
Tomino: Ha! I see what you mean. He and | are around the same age, though. So I get how he
feels, unconditionally. So I may think, “Oh boy...” but I can’t stay mad at him (laughs).
Anno gets a little too into talking about underpants, and Tomino of all people has to check hit
Anno: From my point of view, he’s being very presumptuous. Tomino-san, you put so much of
yourself into your works, it is like you’re dancing naked in them. I like that! (balls fists) In Miya-
san’s recent works, he makes you fhink he’s dancing naked... but on second glance, you realize
he’s still wearing underpants. (getting carried away) I hate that! I feel like shouting: “Take it all
off!” (getting really carried away) And to add insult to injury... he’s wearing fancy underpants!
Tomino: You don’t beat around the bush. We get it, we get it already.
Anno: (shrinking) Excuse me.

Tomino: i do get what you mean, and i don’t mean to play devil’s advocate for Miyazaki, but...
generally speaking, that’s just how you get when you age. It’s the same for me, surely. That was
my first time hearing it put so frankly... but you get what I mean already. It does feel nice letting
it all hang out, waving your dick around. That’s how movies ought to be!
Anno: Yes, I agree. I don’t like it when people try to obscure themselves like that. If you’re
gonna wave your dick around, wave it all around! If you don’t have the guts to do that, then wear the best clothing you can.
Tomino: Right... Dress yourself to the nines!
Anno: Commit yourself to putting on a show. He couldn’t do that. I felt betrayed. Like, this guy isn't really naked!

Had a really bad itch to draw. Tried to mimic one of the MSPA styles. Two pieces of my character, Tereus Taipen. One piece of Kasnia Nimzix and one piece of Smokes Degrot.

Tereus Taipen. My Homestuck Troll Original Character, belonging to the Jade Blood. Looking at his metal arm in a forest of purple and pink.

Tereus Taipen, My Homestuck Troll Original Character. Returning home as he loses his left arm. He stands in a darkend hallway the only illumination coming from the light outside. Blood from his left arm drips onto the floor and across his coat, trousers and left shoe. His overall colour scheme is much darker to reflect what has happened, the only light colours you see are his bladed weapon, his horns, eyes and teeth. His shadow is casted in front of him from the light behind.

A friends Homestuck Troll OC. They have a shaved head on the right side, purple hair on the left and the back of their hair is flowing. They have Large Antler like horns. They are playing with their hair and winking to the camera with a smile, as if they are taking a selfie.

A friends Homestuck Troll OC. They are standing looking at their phone with a cigarette in their mouth and their toungue out in disgust. They have recieved a message from Tereus Taipen and really do not want to deal with it today.

Made an art district for my friend's superhero game and added an artist hero named Pictora into it. They can draw anything to life and even change the world around them. #art #oc #ttrpg #capestuff

A person holding a blue art pen and tablet. They have magenta colored hair in the shape of a brush, a blue mask over their eyes that has paint drips coming off of it, and long art gloves for gloves. Their outfit is a whiteish jacket with different colors of paint splashes all over it and their green under suit that has an apron shape also has paint splattered all over it.

A man with short magenta hair and large round glasses. He's wearing a large blue zip up hoodie with green trim and green spots in the middle and on the arm. There's a sketch of Pictora holding up an art pen and a tablet, ready to draw a robber pregnant

A new translation was recently published of a seminal manga/comics studies essay in 1995 that documents and explains manga iconography with 120 examples. It's so exciting to see a precursor of what I'm doing rn with the Comics Devices Library www.japanesestudies.org.uk/ejcjs/vol24/...

Abstract: In the following translation of an important essay from seminal Manga Studies work How to Read Manga (Manga no yomikata, 1995), manga creator and editor Takekuma Kentarō examines the full range of manga iconography (manpu) and visual effects in this sweeping survey of over 120 concrete samples. He calls these “shape metaphors” (keiyu) and classifies them into two main branches: stand-alone icons and picture-dependent metaphorical effects. If a giant sweat mark has been drawn on the back of a character’s head, one can tell that he is in a panic just from seeing that back figure even though this image is unrealistic. This is a type of visual metaphor and the profundity of such expressions are distinct to comic books. Takekuma’s “shape metaphors” have such refined functions that express the situation or the state of mind of a character, often efficiently and even humorously. Through their use, comic book artists have been able to liberate their stories from the bare bones of plot and create additional layers of psychology and mood all through these seemingly nonsensical and excessive graphic marks. For the first time, this translation presents in English the writings of this seminal manga artist, humorist, critic, and scholar and provides an encyclopedic-like guide to some of manga’s most interesting and irrepressible visual tropes.

A set of expressive lines used in manga to denote motion and feeling.

A woman (Caprese) sitting on another woman's (Hyperion) lap. They're both kissing under a veil that's being worn by the woman on the left. My favorite couple: the god aspect and individual. This Hyperion (Perry) and Caprese. More about them in the alt text. 🌙🧵 📦 #art #oc #capestuff

Two women standing side by side. The one on the left is wearing an all gray combat outfit and a veil. Her face is plain under the veil. The one on the right is wearing grey shorts and an oversized yellow and blue sweater. Her eyes are red from crying.

Hyperion, the one on the left, is the god aspect or what makes up Luna's mind. This aspect is the culmination of everything Luna strives to be: A "Perfect" Selene. They have the information about every weapon's strengths and weaknesses, they know the histories and have studied the stories, they have mastered techniques that have been passed down for thousands of years. If they have a target, they've calculated the best way to take them down without hesitation and by following the Goddess's tenets to a perfected degree. The only problem is that they don't feel victory or defeat, they don't feel joy or sadness, they don't feel anything. They've done every little thing correctly and without flaw, but they're not what the Goddess wants in the slightest. She doesn't want a tool to fight for her, she wants to connect with someone emotionally and experience life with them. If this aspect was allowed to exist, they would be Veiled both in and out of Selene form (if they have one). This practice of wearing a veil is primarily used by clergy within Altalunian culture who have fully devoted themselves to the Goddess, but in this case it would be used to express that this aspect is simply just a hollow shell without the thing she cherishes most.

Caprese, the one on the right, is the individual without a god aspect. An emotional mess. Every emotion feels amplified tenfold, much to the dismay of the Goddess. Probably spends most of her time crying, but she's madly in love with Perry. Perry is her other half and they literally complete one another.

My GM has a concept called Aspects in his game. I put a bit of description in the alt text and when I continue the thread, I'll go more indepth into the idea behind each design. It's complex, but it was fun drawing 44 different people/concepts.🧵 #art #oc

The aspect temple. There are 44 different people that branch off from the center (Luna).
When one of the main four aspects that make up a person gets taken out of them, that aspect becomes their own person and what remains becomes a different individual. The more aspects you take out, the more devolved the individual becomes. The four aspects are God (mind), Emperor (personality), Devil (emotion), King (body).
