Following on from yesterday - I’m not going to get a blazer that fit me. Arm sizing on uk women clothes is ridiculous For my size 14 or so, they expect the flexed bicep measurement to be 32.4cm/12.8inches Measured mine. 34.5cm relaxed, 38cm flexed. So I’m not bothering looking, nothing will fit
UK Size to Upper Arm (Bicep) Guide

UK 4: 26.4 cm / 10.4 in
UK 6: 27.6 cm / 10.9 in
UK 8: 28.8 cm / 11.3 in
UK 10: 30.0 cm / 11.8 in
UK 12: 31.2 cm / 12.3 in
UK 14: 32.4 cm / 12.8 in
UK 16: 33.6 cm / 13.2 in
UK 18: 34.8 cm / 13.7 in
UK 20: 36.0 cm / 14.2 in

I do not like clothes shopping, but a friend’s wedding is coming up and I need something to wear. Anyway I’m now getting coffee, because none of the nice blazers fit in the arms. It’s ridiculous. Even the XL that they had (I wear M usually) Arms too short and too narrow & body far too big.

Trip to Leeds with A. Didn’t actually manage to get what we went for. But had lunch in Jolibees - Philippino fast food chain. I was supposed to be getting something to wear to a friends wedding. I ended up getting a second hand pair of doc martens boots. There’s online shopping I guess for a dress

There is a very nice sunset here tonight. So here’s a photo of it.

And the last few photos from Kirkstall Abbey
Photo of the abbey church ruins, taken with the steps up to the Abbots house behind me. The abbey used to have a tower, but only a single wall remains of the highest part. More of the lower wall remains. Photo of a large stone trough. It might have been a stone coffin. It was tall, the sides about 1.5m tall. Photo of a map showing a plan of the original abbey. The church is at the top of the plan, then the cloister was directly south of it and all the other buildings spread off south and east of the cloister.Photo of me with the abbey ruins in the background. Wearing a blue hoodie and grey T-shirt. The narrow bag sticking up over my shoulder has hiking poles in it, and is attached to a backpack.

More from Kirkstall Abbey
Photo of a room with a vaulted stone ceiling. There arch two arches with three narrow windows in each. In from of this are three stone coffins. They are all missing the lids and are empty. Photo looking out the of the vaulted room with the stone coffins, and back into the cloister. The sun has come back out and the cloister is a lot brighterPhoto looking up stone steps into a ruined building. A nearby plaque said that this had been where the abbot of the abbey used to live.Photo looking down a room that has central columns left, but the roof they used to support is gone. What would once have been an inside floor is grass

More Apperley Bridge to Kirkstall abbey photos
Photo of cows and calves coming down to the waters edge of the canal to drink. Some of them are standing in the shallow water at the edge of the canal. The fields behind the slope upwards to a line of trees and a sky of sunlit clouds Photo of houses on the opposite bank of the canal. Stone built and slate roofed, they are 3 floors tall and are right next to the waters edge. They are likely to date to the earlier part of the 19th century, before trains started to take over from canal barge transport Photo of narrow boats moored on the far bank. The canal path is on the left and passes beneath a stone, single arch bridge

After doing lots of overtime, I’ve had a day off today, so went out for a walk along the canal path from Apperley Bridge to Kirkstall Abbey. So now I’m on my way back and I’m neither of those places, here’s some photos.
Photo look down canal to a metal bridge. Canal on right, path on left. Trees on both banksPhoto of canal way marker that shows its 119 miles to Liverpool. The canal I’m walking along is the Leeds to Liverpool canal. There is a rough field behind the marker with wooded hills beyond that.Photo of four swans swimming left to right across the image. The first two are adults with white feathers, the second two are young adults - the same size as their parents, but with grey feathers still.
The canal is shallow and clear here with water weed growing in it. Behind the camel is a field and trees.Photo of a swing bridge across the canal. I’m on the far bank across the bridge taking the photo looking back across it to the canal path.

The layers worked. The cake turned out quite dense - I think the cream filling layers were sort of caramelised and set in the fridge rather than soaking into the cake layers. All the same it tasted good, and A was happy with it.
The medovik cake with slices cut out of it. The 8 layers of filling and cake can be seen. The top of the cake is covered with blueberries and raspberries

All iced, hopefully the layers/filling in it have worked out okay.

Couldn’t get any proper glasses to view the eclipse - so pinhole camera it was. It was about 90% here. The last time we had that much was in 1999 - abt 95% where i was. I was working a summer job in a care home & and some of elderly residents there told us about the total eclipse back in 1927

Well that wasn’t the intended effect. The garden parasol pole had a bend in it from where it had previously blown over in the wind. Tried to straighten it & have somehow ripped the metal open instead. It’s below the locking socket - so thinking putting a stick inside it & then heavy duty tape.

Looked at weather forecast for next week. No, not liking the look of that. Or the 60-90% humidity that’s with it. (Although glad I’m in N England - the south is supposed to get up to 35-36c° with overnight lows of 20c°) (31c° is about 88f, 36c° is 97f. 20c° is 68f)
Weather forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Lows of 17c° and highs of 30-31c°

Not show is the fact it also says that humidity will be between 60% and 90%
