ITV police drama #DempseyAndMakepeace debuted 11 Jan 1985. Created by Ranald Graham and starring Glynis Barber and Michael Brandon, it was one of the classic 80s will-they-won't-they ships. Sadly cancelled before they "will". Yet still one of our faves!

Promotional photo for Dempsey and Makepeace. 3/4 length photo of the pair standing back to back, wearing light grey and pale blue. Dempsey wears a casual jacket while Makepeace wears fitted suit trousers and waistcoat, white shirt and a bow tie. Both hold hand guns.

Promotional photo for Dempsey and Makepeaces. 1/2 length photo of the pair standing in a park. Makepeace faces the camera, wearing a cricket jumper over white shirt and grey bow tie. She has a blonde bob with fringe. Dempsey is behind her, sideways on, wearing a black leather blouson jacket. He has tousled dark brown hair. Both look serious and hold a hand gun.

Dempsey and Makepeace - Wheelman (7th September 1985). The first of Murray Smith's four scripts for the series featured a guest appearance by Tom Georgeson (plus a spot of Acker Bilk).

#1985 Two pages from that year’s Dempsey and Makepeace annual based on the TV show, and a panel from an otherwise lost sample page.

The Ship Yard is a podcast which discusses all things TV "shippy" - specifically the unresolved sexual tension, will-they-won't-they ships. We have a particular interest of the classic ships of the 80s and 90s, but talk about current ships too. We are relaunching for 2025! Look out for updates.
