Here is an older ERAM design I was working on that I liked in concept but felt awkward in the final render. Technically made this a year ago, but it feels more relevant now with the lore drop.

ERAM 3D model Turnaround I wanted to lean into the cervine anatomy for this design. I like to imagine ERAM as a child Krampus. #deltarune #ERAM

Not trying to refute your argument, but I spent some time going through Steam's 250 highest rated games and labeling male and female protagonists in order to try to ascertain a more full picture of the discrepancy. I have my spreadsheet linked as a reply for transparency. bsky.app/profile/sela...

If you notice any mistakes or errors in the the spreadsheet let me know, and I'll correct it. I've only played a few of these titles, so I was not entirely sure on how some should be labeled. Also, this post is not meant as a direct rebuttal but as a more clear breakdown of what is really happening.

I watched the video breaking down Steam's tags recently and saw some conversations about how "female protagonist" only made up around 7% of all games. I wanted to try and see how well this reflects actual games, so I created this graph based on Steam's top 250 rated titles.

Getting an OFF and Deltarune update in the same year is the most exciting gaming news I’ve heard in a long time. Our modern day feels like the best time for indie games to get the recognition and success they have long deserved. Let’s hope that this is a strong sign towards the genre’s growth.
