Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026So Capcom recently released Mega Man X Command Mission on PSN out of the blue. Really hope this leads to Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter getting a release on modern platforms. Also wondering if Capcom is planning on releasing Command Mission on other platforms? 020
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Finished Leda's part 1 in FE Fortunes Weave. The story and mission battles were fun, but I am skeptical about the free time gameplay loop remaining fresh after 3 additional characters. 111
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Finished SW Zero Company. Not bad, but as someone who was mostly interested in the XCOM comparisons it was a bit of a letdown. The game generally lacked any real challenge outside of a few missions and the injury system never came into play even on harder difficulties. 110
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 09/09/2026While the Romancing SaGa 3 remake being right around the corner is amazing news, Torneko's Mystery Dungeon HD getting released today is pretty cool too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=itd4...youtube.comDragon Quest Heroes: Torneko‘s Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD- | Release TrailerYouTube video by DRAGON QUEST 030
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 09/09/2026It has been a long time since I was pumped for a new FF, but the Final Fantasy Resonance demo has me feeling hopeful. Definitely need to fix the mini map, you can turn it off manually but it automatically pops back up after most actions. Please add a permanent way to turn it off. 001
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 10/07/2026Beat The Adventures of Elliot. The magicite system kept fighting fun while the story and characters ended up being more interesting than expected once the story picked up, but it did a bad job of differentiating the 4 eras. Some may feel the game is overpriced at $60 due to length and other factors. 110
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 06/06/2026FF7 Revelations getting dresspheres feels like a step in the right direction. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 23/05/2026Surprised by how much I enjoyed The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales demo. Game went from almost no interest to a possible purchase at release with a quickness. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 11/05/2026Decided to compare my initial game completion stats from both #Returnal and #Saros and I died significantly more in Saros. Although I didn't consider Returnal that challenging, so maybe that's not a huge surprise. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 11/05/2026Playing through #Saros was incredibly fun. The fast paced combat left my heart pounding after every boss encounter. Unfortunately, the story is a step down from Returnal's. It's nowhere near as interesting. 110
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 25/04/2026Recently replayed the pixel remaster of Final Fantasy II. It's pretty crazy to think about FF II's core gameplay mechanics and how the SaGa series has built on that foundation over the past 36 or so years. #FFII #SaGa 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 12/04/2026Recently finished the Dragon Quest II HD Remake and while it is a solid title I think SE went a little crazy with the additional content towards the end. The big offender being the fairy/mermaid story arc with its repeated just grab one more thing to advance quest structure made the late game drag. 121
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 06/04/2026I've seen a bunch of Treasure of the Rudras hype, but it definitely needs a remake. Its doubtful that the basic battle system will fly today. Considering when ToR was released, years after more mechanically complex battle system like FF6, you would think the developers would have realized that. 001
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 04/04/2026Finished up Riki's quest in SaGa Frontier. I was going to try making a full monster team for the final boss but it was taking way too much time, so I gave up. Fuse's case was kind of corny, I'm just glad they didn't make you redo Ring lord's trials. 010

Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 26/02/2026Finished #Nioh3 with a plat trophy which I almost never do, it was just that good. Combat was easier than 1 or 2, but there were still challenging fights and the controls felt tight and responsive. It didn't feel real world tbh, more like interconnected levels from 1 or 2. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 15/02/2026For everyone who was worried about whether Nioh's creepiest recurring character, the dung ball lover, was making a return in Nioh 3, worry no longer! #Nioh3 #dung 020
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 12/02/2026Played the #Pragmata demo. It's an interesting concept, but I'm not sure I want to play a mini-game every time I fight something. 000

Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 01/02/2026Finished the #Nioh3 demo. Went with a Magic/Intellect build and found it really fun, especially after the Switchglaive and Splitstaff became available. Sorry to all the other dozens of February releases, but I'm grabbing Nioh 3 when it hits on the 6th. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 28/01/2026The original Trails games were always my favorite part of the series. That fact remains true after playing the Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter remake. While I don't always support full 3D conversions of old games it's interesting how much better these models are than the og at conveying emotion. 001
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 24/01/2026I played the Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined demo, and it was excellent. The various difficulty options helped address my fears about it being too easy. Although the true test will be after the class change system is unlocked. I wish the game allowed us to turn off all quest markers though. #DQ7R #DQ7 041
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 17/12/2025#DigimonStory Time Stranger is better than past games but still needs some work. Combat was too easy for most of the game, even on hard difficulty and the unfocused story ends with an abrupt info dump. Half the sidequests opening at the end of the game was also a weird choice. 021
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 03/12/2025Finished #RueValley last week. It has a great story, but the way the story unfolds definitely needs some work. It felt like too much game time was spent running back and forth trying to figure out what the game wanted you to do to move the story forward. Maybe wait for a sale on this one. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 07/11/2025DQI was fun, but with all the changes felt more like a prologue bridging DQIII and DQII rather than its own thing. My only complaint was that combat almost always felt too easy or hard and never just right. #DragonQuest 121
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 02/11/2025Playing through Final Fantasy Tactics is always a good time. Really enjoyed the new script, timeline and expanded lore sections as well. The inclusion of the visual novel stuff was a head scratcher though. #FFT 040
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 02/11/2025Calling the new version of the original Dragon Quest a remake feels disingenuous. It's basically a completely new game loosely based on the original. Not a bad thing, but just saying. #DragonQuest 020
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 27/09/2025Finished #HellisUs Hell is Us did an amazing job with its world building. The games lore, setting, the atmosphere of each of the games explorable areas and the characters inhabiting the world were all incredibly well crafted. Just wish the same could be said for the combat. 010
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 21/09/2025Been playing Class of Heroes 3 Remastered for about a week. If you can get past the anime trappings (Little Sister/Brother is a class 🤡), bad story and passable localization it is solid but very grindy first person dungeon crawler. 010
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 17/09/2025I tried out the Digimon Story #timestranger demo. I had played the past Digimon Story rpgs and wasn't super impressed by them, but Time Stranger feels like a step up, at least graphically. I'm not going to get it at launch, but will definitely be keeping an eye out for a sale. 110
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 10/09/2025Beat Mask of the Betrayer, an expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2 recently. MotB has everything I wanted to see in NN2. A thoughtful, fleshed out story with with meaningful and interesting characters and interactions. Thankfully you don't need to have played NN2 to enjoy MotB. 011
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 29/08/2025Beat the Neverwinter Nights 2 EE main campaign. It was a very average experience. The game felt more fleshed out towards the beginning but less and less so as it progressed. Almost like it was too ambitious for the developers and they needed to rush to get it finished in time. 020
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 21/08/2025Played the Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion demo and liked it. Massive amount of weapon and armor combinations to pick from, I could see customization/build variety being deep. The game has a budget feel and the story gives off generic anime vibes, so no way I'm dropping $70 on it 030
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 15/08/2025Finished Death Stranding 2 a while back. A definite improvement over the original, with more traversal and combat options, dynamic weather, deeper side quests and even the ability to summon BT to fight. I liked it, but never got past the feeling I was playing an extreme UPS delivery simulator. 020
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 13/08/2025Finished the Hell is Us demo, and found the story and setting pretty interesting. I also liked the lack of quest markers and minimalist ui. Found the combat kinda basic though. Would have been nice to see how weapon upgrading and attack type glyph skills work in the demo. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Put 60+ hours into the console version of Neverwinter Nights 2 EE so far. Experienced 3 random crashes and some graphical anomalies, but the biggest issue by far is the load times with the longest being around a minute. Controller support is fine, but lacks the utility of a mouse 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 18/07/2025Feeling conflicted about Death Stranding 2. It has a ton of improvements over the original and has been very entertaining, but the resource gathering and upkeep for major projects like roads and monorails has me feeling like I am working a job. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Recently beat Trails through Daybreak 2. My favorite thing about the Daybreak games is that you aren't expected to remember 9 games worth of lore to get into them. Falcom needs to work on the action combat though. It's weak despite Falcom having made so many actions games to date. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 04/07/2025In other words, Raidou 2 Remastered is 100% guaranteed to happen, right? 🤡 010
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 02/07/2025Finished Raidou Remastered MotSA. The changes from the original made this feel more like a new game than a remaster, but the hand holding, especially for a game where you play as a detective was excessive. Mostly I'm just excited for a possible Raidou vs. King Abaddon remaster. 020
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 23/06/2025Who could have imagined the greatest challenge in Raidou Remastered: MotSA would be winning a game of Mahjong? 010
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 22/06/2025Made it to CH 3 in Raidou Remastered MotSA and am loving the updated combat. I really wish there was a way to turn off the quest and case file markers though. They feel kind of over the top and unnecessary in a game like this. 110
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 12/06/2025Finished Lies of P: Overture. It was fun, with all the same pros and cons that Lies of P had. New weapons, like the bow and a handle that doubled as a short range flame thrower helped to keep things fresh. But the high hp elite enemies and certain bosses were pretty frustrating. 000
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 10/05/2025Finished Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially the story, characters and atmosphere. Although the somber/hopeless themes laced throughout the game might not be for everyone. The combat grew on me by mid-game, but got repetitive towards the end. 010
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 08/05/2025Took almost a full month, but I beat Xenoblade Chronicles X DE. It's great finally getting a real ending, the game ran surprisingly well on the Switch and the QoL improvements made playing a much better experience than the original. 120
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 30/04/202515 hours into Clair Obscur Expedition 33. The aesthetics, art, music all that is great. Story and characters are interesting. Combat is my only gripe. Why does a turn based game needs 4 different buttons for dodge/parry? Normal difficulty is totally doable even if your timing sucks though. 111
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Kinda crazy that GOG is the one reviving psx classics like Breath of Fire IV. Here's hoping that Dragon Quarter is next! 010
Riverking @theriverking.bsky.social · 11/04/2025Played a bit of the Emerald Diorama dlc for Vampire Survivors. For a free dlc, it feels like a lot of work went into it. All new enemies sprites, a bunch of new characters to unlock and new weapon types that glimmer attacks. 000
