I was able to go hands-on with Horde and multiplayer in Gears of War: E-Day. My take: The newfound verticality of the maps and refined movement mechanics gives the game a very different feel — which may land divisively.

Odyssey is one of the greatest pieces of entertainment in our life time. It’s grounded by an iconic cast that expertly delivers a classic narrative about the lengths one man is willing to go to be reunited with the love of his life. A shame Luigi isn’t playable though.

I’ve been playing SAROS ahead of launch, thanks to @playstation.com! Still early in my playthrough, but this game is really awesome. Another white-knuckle, bullet-hell shooter from the masters of the genre at Housemarque. Definitely a must-play if you enjoyed the studio’s previous gem, Returnal.

I’ve got a fun theory: Masahiro Sakurai is suggesting that there’s more going on in the story of Kirby Air Riders - a greater villain. We also know that the game won’t receive DLC and there won’t be a sequel. So is Kirby Air Riders actually a prologue to the next Super Smash Bros. game?

Kirby Air Riders getting mixed scores actually makes me more excited to play it tomorrow. The original was also super divisive when it landed on GameCube and I want more of that deceptively deep sort of energy from Sakurai and this franchise.

I wrapped the story in Donkey Kong Bananza yesterday. It is Nintendo in its finest form. It innovates on the 3D platforming genre meaningfully with voxel tech while honouring every era of Donkey Kong — from the arcade to Rare Ware to Retro Studios. What a video game. 🍌

DOOM: The Dark Ages is the most fun I’ve had with a shooter in a long time. It’s in-your-face, brutal and reminiscent of an era in gaming when you didn’t need much more than a weapon, an enemy and a direction to rip and tear through. This is one hell of a video game.
