Hi, I’m Theresa Godfrey. Now that kids are back in school, we’re all searching for the other shoe that seems to evade us one way or another. I’m looking for picture book projects and representation. I love using traditional materials to tell stories featuring kids #kidlitartpostcard

Colored pencil drawing of a girl in a rocking chair, putting on her shoes, but one shoe has fallen down, and as she leans forward, the chair threatens to topple over, as it leans out of the frame. The image is accompanied by text: Theresa Godfrey; author-Illustrator; seeking representation.

The forecast looks like rain this weekend: a perfect time to set sail in a cardboard boat! Joining in the theme for #kidlitartpostcard day, this could definitely be me as a child. My name is Theresa Godfrey and I'm seeking representation for picture books #kidlit #kidlitart #kidlitartist

Showcasing my art at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art tonight at the Staff Art Show. It was fun to see my recent illustrations (and a few from the archive) all dressed up in their frames.

Artist Theresa Godfrey stands behind a table displaying framed illustrations in the style of picture books in a museum setting.

Framed illustrations on a table in order from left to right: rabbit playing cello; polar bear holding a shipwrecked mouse; Moscow’s Red Square with a magical sky; a proud child with coral growing out of her head; a child using a cardboard box as a boat, a book work in a cozy chair; a mouse blowing up balloons, a spiral galaxy.

It's almost summer here in New england, but it's snowing somewhere! I am an author-illustrator seeking representation. I like to make watercolor illustrations with moody skies and curious characters. Happy #kidlitartpostcard day! #picturebook #kidlitart #picturebookillustration #illustration

Watercolor postcard depicting a picture book spread of a snowy, icy, stormy landscape. A thoughtful polar bear holds a mouse, who points to his boat, which is stuck in the ice. "But how will you get there?" asked Hans. "That's just the trouble," said Martin. "I don't know anymore." At the bottom it has the name and contact information of the illustrator: Theresa Godfrey

My biggest art installation yet! And my biggest collage too. I designed and made this larger-than-life camera and film strip for the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. This is the display wall for the Everyday Art Project, inspired by a new exhibit about photography in picture books.

In this picture book illustration, a back-lit, curious child pulls back some weeds with her red mitten to see what's hiding behind them. The art is rendered in mixed media: watercolor, colored pencil, and ink with a warm color palate of reds, golds, and browns.

What a treat to see Barbara McClintock give the annual BERL Lecture today at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. She spoke about her new (very special!) book “Where Are You Brontë” by Tomie de Paola
