Been on a revisit to all of the excellent Resident Evil books written by S.D. Perry. They’re genuinely such brisk and entertaining reads. And the fact that they’re still in print makes me so happy. I can’t recommend them enough to RE fans. Hope she writes more of them someday.

The games that made me. Each one has a special place during a certain part of my childhood and were ones I would always go back to as I went into high school. And I still to this day replay them. The original SH2 I play almost yearly to remind myself how good games and storytelling can be.

The Furious. One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had in a theater. 10/10. No notes. Just an ethereal viewing from start to finish. Walked out of that theater with a high of pure adrenaline. This is what movies are all about.

Snowed in during this windy blizzard up in MA, so I finished God of War: Sons of Sparta. As a Metroidvania lover, this was a very big surprise. And I’ve much missed the Greek setting. Also, T.C Carson back as Kratos is GREAT! Had a blast with it, hope PlayStation does more of these smaller games.

Looks like they took down the AI art? @haysey-draws.art Really hoping that means they’re redoing the cover art for the release. Very interesting.

The tweet in question, as well as the email we wrote to them. Never called their game, “The Observer.” It was a mix-up on the spelling of “Stories Untold,” super minor issue. Total accident. Really sucks to reach out because you love a studio’s games, only to get treated that way. Just a bummer.

After a slow and analytical watch, finally finished Orb: On the Movements of the Earth. This has easily cemented itself as my favorite anime of the decade. A show that keeps you guessing and thinking from start to finish. There’s nothing like it, just a masterpiece in storytelling. Go watch it.

Yup. Incredible film. Takes a masterpiece manga and turns it into a masterpiece film. Remarkable translation of the source material into fluid motion. A moving film that reminds me why I love writing. Reflects the sacrifices one makes for their creative pursuits. See LOOK BACK!

Super stoked to rewatch two incredible masterpiece Korean films. “The Man From Nowhere,” an action thriller about a man rescuing a girl. “The Wailing,” a horror film about mysterious killings in a small village. Owning them on 4K was a no brainer. Cannot recommend them enough.

Rob Benoit @therealrobpg.bsky.social · 17/12/2023

The movie that made me want to be a writer. I saw this when it came out on DVD when I was 7. It scared the crap out of me. But I couldn’t get enough of it. The Mummy is my favorite film ever made. And one day, I hope I make something that impacts people the way this impacted me.

Godzilla Minus One. Easily one of the best theater experiences ever. There was a father there with all his kids. When the final reveal that ensures everything is okay happened, this man threw his arms up and screamed with joy, “YES!” Movies man. This is what it’s all about.

The worst part about being sick with a sinus infection. Not being able to go to the cinema to see the amazing movies that are out right now. It’s killing me.

010

Rob Benoit @therealrobpg.bsky.social · 06/12/2023

Slamdance selected an AI made video into their 2024 programming. What’s worse, the “artist” is selling the segments that were used to make the video on the blockchain. I genuinely cannot comprehend how saddening this is. Honestly makes me glad we weren’t accepted to the festival. So disrespectful.

We love to see it! So happy that SAG-AFTRA was able to secure a deal that will protect actors going into the future of this industry. It was amazing seeing actors and writers supporting each other through this. Wishing all of them well as things pick up and the work continues. The future is bright.

Hype if it’s true!! The greedy studio executives finally accepted their defeat. Waiting to hear the official statement from SAG-AFTRA. Hoping that the tentative deal protects everyone for years to come!

Rewatched “One Hour Photo” tonight, it was @trevordylan.bsky.social’s first time seeing it. Experiencing his reaction to how stressful and unpredictable the film is was so great. Robin Williams gives such a haunting and lonely performance. Truly one of the great thrillers of the 20th century.

Really gutted to hear about the cancellation of Revenant Hill. Night in the Woods is one of my favorite games. Wishing the devs all the best through this. Health and well-being should always come before anything, glad they’re making that decision. My thoughts are with everyone at The Glory Society.
