i think we probably do need to do more talking about how to help women heal from sexual assault and less talking about whether and how sexual-assualting men can or should be rehabilitated, based on that realization that i've seen a great deal of discourse on the latter and ~none on the former

The problem I have with restorative justice is that most people seem to think it means restoring the perpetrator to good standing. It does not, it means making the victim whole again. This is not something they can be achieved when it comes to rape when all to often rapists never face consequences

I often see the defence of "he shouldn't have to suffer the rest of his life for one mistake!" and "he has his whole life ahead of him" So, SHE gets to suffer for HIS mistake instead then, have her own future made that much harder? and to downplay it as "a mistake" is utterly insulting

As early as you can, you should be aware of some of your baggage, demons and ghosts and have started the work of facing it all to become fully yourself. You'll probably have gone through something that hurt your heart and ideally you can let it teach you humility and compassion and your own needs.
