My good friend Rob Jenkinson and I worked together for several years with our (hardcore industrial) Smallcreep band. Rob still helps me and @theraindogs.bsky.social out with his Jenkotronics and f*d up guitar weirdness, even on my loosest jazzy ramblings, bless him ❤️🙌

On September 11, 1948, John Martyn was born Ian David McGeachy in New Malden, Surrey. From an early age he was raised by his father and his wider paternal family in Shawlands, Glasgow. As an adult he made some astonishing music and did some terrible things.

6-year anniversary of this track showed up in FB. A nice one, very minimalist, with percussion tapped out on bass by @ianhalst.bsky.social and me covering piano & textures. Now available on the album "An Imprint Upon Time: Music For Drones And Nyckelharpa" the-rain-dogs.bandcamp.com/track/shards...

I've done a couple of tunes that I subtitle "After Jon Hassell", and they're both set in the heat of Africa, which his FX-treated trumpets seemed to perfectly capture. One is "Janjanbureh", about The Gambia. The other is this - "Felucca" - about the Nile. the-rain-dogs.bandcamp.com/track/felucc...
