It’s been a little while since I put fingers to keyboard to discuss the Alex. Since the end of the season, I’ve been on holiday, started a new job and broke my laptop. So you know, its …

The news came through in late June 2024 that Crewe had made their second signing of the summer, following the capture of Kane Hemmings. Jamie Knight-Lebel, a young central defender from Bristol Cit…

Kane Hemmings was our first signing in the warm optimistic glow of the close season. He has historically been a thorn in our side, especially during his Burton days. During his career he’s av…

Chris Long’s four year stint at Crewe Alexandra has been drawn to a close with the announcement of his release from the club. The forward joined the Alex during Dave Artell’s ill-fated …

When I was a younger lad, I attended Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, and every dinner time we used to play footy on the tennis courts. Of course, as I went up through the years, the enjoyment w…

Left back had been a real strength the previous year with Rio Adebisi finally showing both the talent and consistency that some of us had always believed he had in him. With Rio’s summer move to Pe…

Lets not beat around the bush… this season has been quite the nightmare. The Alex started the campaign struggling to score a goal and they ended it in the same way. It was a turgid nine month…

When it comes to football, a positive mindset is vital, both as players and as fans. Sure, this season has been a long, frustrating one, full of bad performances and moments we’d love to forg…

Its that weird limbo at the end of the season when everyones ready for a summer break, but there a couple of bits of business to wrap up first. Before we can forget League Two exists for a couple o…

We’re back for part three of our Player Ratings for the 2024/25 season. In each part a series of Crewe Alexandra players get their season performances rated by a host of Railwaymen. Each play…

It’s part two of our Crewe Alex 2024/25 Player Ratings series, where we take a look at each player’s performance across the season. Every player receives three different fans’ opi…

The 2024/25 season drew to a close on Saturday, putting the Alex faithful out of their misery. Crewe lost 0-1 to Walsall, marking the seventh game in the last nine that the team failed to score in.…

I usually struggle with the summer. I miss football. Not just any football – Crewe Alex football. I miss my football mates and away days, and it gets me down.  But the end of 23/24 was e…

It took a former Railwaymen to break Walsall’s hearts as despite an improved performance, Lee Bell’s Crewe Alex never looked like scoring. The Sadlers thought they were earning automati…

Back in those depressing relegation days, Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers were two of the poorest football teams the EFL has ever seen. The match between the pair got dubbed ‘El Crapico&…

Its been eight years since Crewe Alexandra had any major kit news. But here we are, with two big changes in one summer. In recent weeks the club have announced that they have a singed a new deal to…

For the first time this season Crewe Alexandra’s match-going fans have sung for Lee Bell to be sacked. The short trip to Prenton Park to face a struggling and woeful Tranmere Rovers side shou…

Progress was made at Gresty Road as the Alex managed to concede just one goal in a mini-season ticket match.  The starting line up was unchanged from the Colchester match. This was probably a …

I’ll be honest, when the call came through to Railwaymen Towers informing me that it was my duty to write a match review of the upcoming clash at Colchester, I really wasn’t feeling it. Was it the …

In my previous memory match article I attempted to raise the spirits ahead of kick off and to change our fortunes with memories of a previous glorious victory against then opponents, Cheltenham. It…

Why do we get so many injuries?  **** knows. Other teams seem to put out the same eleven week after week.  Maybe they let their players recover.  I imagine our recovery sessions must be like an epi…

‘It’s a surreal experience to actually think we’re going to Wembley.’ It’s almost guaranteed that Lee Bell’s band of merry men won’t be featuring at &#8216…

As I write this, Crewe Alex are 9th in League Two and our season is effectively over (Let’s be honest, our abject performance against Cheltenham and current form means a Play-Off place is extremely…

Crewe wins at Bradford are pretty rare. A win that takes a Crewe centre forward to top scorer in the division is even rarer. It was quite a final day of the season at Valley Parade, after a year th…

The Alex reignited their League Two promotion hopes on Tuesday by stoking the fire with a 2-0 home victory, now they travel to Bradford City for an altogether much harder task. Goals from Chris Lon…
