My grandmother used to tell stories of the 1940s and how her family would pick cotton from the ditches to make ends meet. As long as they didn’t cross the fence, the farmers didn’t care. I have no photographs of this time, so I painted one. #art #watercolor

Library fines have gotten weird since the change in management

In this digital painting, a girl is walking down the spiral staircase of a library, carrying a box of treasures in her arms. She has a brown canvas backpack full of books on her back. In the center of the tower-shaped library, a two-headed dragon rests atop a massive pile of books. One of the heads is sleeping, while the other has just awoken and peeks with one cyan eye at the girl descending the stairs. A very anxious librarian is a short distance up the stairs, gripping the rail and his cane, and an equally anxious library assistant sits on the stair above him. Blue stained glass windows cast a bright light through the image, and a normal window somewhere offscreen lets in a vibrant warmth that hits the girl and the dragon.
