Neck pour. Initial impressions are this whisky lives up to the hype that saw me buy it back in October 2023. Been in the stash since. Probably one of the few whiskies that, for me, is better on the palate than the nose. Fruit loaf in a glass. Thought I detected a bit of peat but apparently not!

Anyone recommend any good walking tours of Edinburgh? Since it's with the family, they won't thank me for a whiskey-focused one! GetYourGuide showing up things like the Underground Ghost Tours, Harry-Potter focused tours....any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Interesting little side-by-side. Buffalo Trace is bottled at 45% ABV for the USA (left hand glencairn) compared to 40% for the UK/Ireland (right hand side glencairn). Immediately noticed the difference in colour. Same DNA on the nose and palate but menthol comes through on the higher ABV.

Smokehead (40%) and Smokehead unfiltered (46%). Samples provided by a friend. Really enjoyable peated Islay whisky. Distillery unknown. Enough of a difference that you'd think they were from different distilleries. Recommended at the price they are currently going for.

Bottlekill and its replacement. I've opened about 4 bottles of bourbon this year just to get a bit more experience with it. I'll be returning to opening Scottish and Irish whisk(e)y for the remainder of the year.

My first cork breakage.... Two groups of thought - leave it as is as the broken cork in the bottle won't affect the taste or decant into another bottle. Thoughts?
