Even if they can just have the attraction, I think most who do struggle with that piece of it. With the fact they have to hide themselves from those they love and care about. That is something that I think therapy could be helpful for, in a system where therapy wasn't also booby-trapped.

I know a lot of people personally that it does cause distress for, who do wish they could reach out for help. The biggest piece that I think most who have it struggle with, however, is the distress of knowing society would utterly shame, humiliate, and hate them for it.

I will admit, my parents weren't outright abusive, they were loving and kind, yes, but I also suffered a ton because of the things they wouldn't accept about me. My trans identity. My plurality. Not to mention paraphilia. No, they never beat me, but that doesn't mean I didn't suffer.

I'm a bit slow so work with me here, how is kids being forced to work in the past counter to what I said? The kids working those jobs were forced into a terrible situation and robbed of their childhood and freedom, that's a tragedy. They were only mature in so much as they were forced to be
