This week: an evening at Society of Antiquaries, London, for a celebration of the Low Ham publication as part of their summer soiree. Here's us authors (@davidrobertsarch.bsky.social, Roger Leech and me) posing with the hard copy from Pen & Sword books but it's also open access - link in comments 👇

When I broke my wrist just before Christmas I was in+out of A&E in an hour. I thought I'd been very lucky and put it down largely to time of day (8.15am on a Saturday). So I found this interesting, and quite positive, reading. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I went to A&E with a broken wrist and caught a dose of ‘I’ve been lucky’ syndrome | Polly Toynbee

Statistics show my timely, efficient treatment wasn’t a matter of fortune but quite ordinary, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

Really proud to see this out. A fantastic achievement that rests heavily on the hard work, expertise and dedication of all those mentioned here, not least @davidrobertsarch.bsky.social ! An excellent summary of all our contributors and of the overall findings. Now go read the book!

Yes the whole thing is a flat painting. It's very clever.

Doing fieldwork in your nice clothes?? This incredible piece of 3D pavement art recreates the experience of excavating the Trojan War Mosaic. Zoom in to marvel at the detail and then get over to Rutland County Museum, Oakham, to have a go for yourself! #FindsFriday #RCM3DArt

Stunning photo! Similarly M&S York's cafe has great views of the Minster. Department stores as vantage points. Maybe there's something in that...

I'm pleased to have a small role in this Historic England/Cotswold Archaeology project. The swords are quite something and Glenn the detectorist is a great chap. It'll be interesting to see what else we learn as research progresses. #FindsFriday

Now do the 'eyes' get used more often to replace those on clothing, or have these just been lost from this elderly card?

When I say I've spent a lot of this week working on my nails, it makes it sound a lot more glamorous than the reality of this Roman ironwork assessment. #FindsFriday
